WRC Drivers and FIA Reach an Agreement!🥳

in Rally8 days ago

Hello rally fans :D!!

I’m bringing you good news😍!!

I’ve been following the drama between WRC drivers and the FIA lately (and if you read my last post on it you’re also in the talks), and as we all know things got awkwardly quiet for a while. Literally😭.

After Adrien Fourmaux dropped a spicy word at the end of a special stage, criticizing his drive (yes FIA.. himself ..not you..) right in front of WRC’s live cameras the FIA wasn’t too thrilled. They slapped him with a €10,000 fine, with another €20,000 suspended for the next 12 months. And let’s just say… none of the drivers or fans were having it.

So what happened next? Total silence. In Kenya, every driver zipped it shut and gave the FIA the coldest shoulder possible (or spoke in his native language) no stage end interviews, no commentary, nothing. If you’ve ever watched rally and loved those raw, emotional, sometimes hilarious reactions at the stop line, you know how big of a deal this was!!

But thankfully, it didn’t stay that way for long!!

Let me just say when FIA found out what the drivers were planning they called them to a meeting 10 MINUTES NEFORE THE STAGE START🤣🤣🤣🤣??!?!?

After a bit of back and forth, WoRDA (the World Rally Drivers’ Association) and the FIA have finally come to compromise. Stage end interviews are coming back! Yay!! But (!!!) with clearer rules on what’s okay and what isn’t.

DirtFish:Here’s the deal, explained by rally legend Julien Ingrassia (thank you @ssekulji for asking him for a picture🥹) to

“From now on, rallies will be split into controlled and uncontrolled zones.

Uncontrolled zones: places like stage ends, inside the car during stages, and road sections. In these moments of adrenaline, emotion, and chaos drivers won’t be penalized for slipping up.

Controlled zones: like media areas and postevent FIA press conferences. These are more formal, and yes, swearing here might still land you in trouble.

This solution feels fair, honestly. Rally drivers are human. They’ve just flown through forests at 160km/h, dodged rocks, dealt with dust, mud, spectators and their own nerves. The rawness at stage end is part of what makes this sport so special. Watering it down too much would strip away the very soul of rally.

This compromise protects the sport’s authenticity while still maintaining professionalism where it matters most❤️.

Welcome back, stage end interviews. We missed you🥹❤️.
