Hello rally fans :)!
Rally is forever dynamic and The World Rally Championship world is facing an unexpected logistical and financial challenge as their official fuel supplier, P1 Performance Fuels GmbH, has gone into provisional administration….😬. The German company, which secured the FIA’s contract in 2022 to provide sustainable e-fuel for WRC, is now struggling with severe financial difficulties, forcing the FIA to step in to keep the championship running smoothly (now we know where the money from Adrien’s cursing is going to..)
The crisis came to light just ahead of Safari Rally Kenya, where the fuel meant for competitors was stuck at the port of Mombasa due to unpaid customs duties. P1 Performance Fuels was unable to cover the costs, leaving teams without access to their necessary supply. In response, the FIA was forced to intervene, paying the required taxes to ensure the fuel was delivered in time for the iconic African rally.
While that issue has been resolved,FIA now faces a bigger, long term problem.. finding a new supplier to take over until at least the end of 2025. With the next round of WRC2, Rally Islas Canarias, rapidly approaching, a solution needs to be found urgently to avoid further disruptions to the championship. Such an unfortunate situation..
This situation raises concerns about the sustainability of WRC’s fuel supply and the risks of relying on a single provider for such a critical aspect of the sport (FIA, FIA.. tsk tsk tsk). I wonder how and will the FIA opt for an emergency replacement or completely rework the fuel supply strategy!? Well one is for sure😅, that remains to be seen, but one thing is clear this is a problem they cannot afford to ignore. Karma or something like that?

It will be resolved very soon...
They (FIA) didn’t plan on something like that happening. I bet it was a cold shower..
