BREAKING NEWS: Hyundai WRC team to send old spec of Rally1 machinery for Safari Rally Kenya 2025

in Rally3 days ago (edited)

Hi, friends!

It is nothing new that Hyundai Motorsport updated their i20 Rally1 car with the newly homologated parts for their car ahead of WRC Rally Sweden which finished recently. They didn't win but the speed was there with some fastest special stage times from their drivers: Adrien Fourmaux and Thierry Neuville.

Because they didn't test the new parts at super rough surface roads, they opted for an older non-hybrid spec of the car for one of the roughest gravel rallies of the calendar - Safari Rally Kenya.

I expect strong fight with Toyota and probably Toyota's win there but you never know.

In motorsport, everything is possible. In Kenya, the most clever driver will win, not the fastest. I saw some terrible gravel roads at Acropolis Rally Greece and these in Kenya are at the same level.

Let the best win - as always...

I can't believe the beating these cars take on both the Acropolis rally and Africa - its just incredible! A testament to engineering for sure!! Will be interesting to see how #Toyota and #Hyundai deal with it this year - will be a battle!!

I would like to see M-Sport Ford with some top guys behind a steering wheel...

Yes, that would be wonderful to see!! I don't think Munster will be "the one" Maybe McErlean in a few years - but that might be a stretch as well. Malcolm needs to spend big bucks to get a top tier driver - not sure if his pockets are deep enough at this point.... hence he lost Fourmaux......

He won't pay for a driver, that's for sure.

He tried that with Seb, but that didn't work very well.... I think they only won 1 rally that year.... big investment, small reward......
