Hi, friends!
Very experienced and multiple Germany rally champion Matthias Kahle won 3rd round of the German gravel championship and that's what counts - gravel.
I don't say it is easy to drive on tarmac but if you are good, you will be fast on gravel rallies.
I saw so many tarmac drivers being nowhere when they came on gravel. The point is that as a driver you need to be all surface driver - good on gravel, tarmac and snow/ice.
First time I heard for Kahle was probably around 20 years ago when he was Seat works driver and he won every rally in the German rally championship with that yellow Seat Cordoba WRC.
I don't understand the reason why they couldn't make better car with that Cordoba WRC. Something was wrong with that car. Maybe the budget wasn't there but I doubt it. They had the money to pay proper drivers, but not the top stars. Carlos Sainz as a Spaniard never drove for them and that means something. They were just nowhere in the WRC class.
But Seat won everything with Ibiza kit car F2 category. Maybe that's why I drive Seat Ibiza GTI rally car today. I am joking.
Back to Kahle. I don't understand why he didn't deliver more at the World Rally Championship level. I mean, he had some outings with Toyota Corolla WRC and Seat back in a days but almost every rally finished with DNF (did not finish).
These days he has his own rally team where he rents Škoda Fabia R5 evo rally cars. Sometimes he drives them as he did on this rally.
Watch and enjoy some action from the German Rally Championship...
