Today I was working on one of my assignment of ethical concerns of Self-Driving Cars. As I considered It as thought full post and wanted to share with my HIVE audience so here I am!

After brainstorming on the topic it was my time to write ethical concerns that came to my mind(reminder that they are 100% mine, although I brainstorm my self from above resources)!
- The car should not speed (x) in (x) km within properties like hospital, schools etc.
- The car should not leak any user privacy and the data should not leave the car’s system and have all type of risks analyses related to user privacy to be taken care off.
- If car is in Auto-pilot mode and had an accident the damage of either life or property should be the responsibility of issuing company.
- If car had to decide between two Life, the decision should not be based on social status or age of two people.
- The car should never break of any traffic rule even if signal is red and road is clear.
- The car should reduce the fuel and energy consumption as compared to human driving it (this concern was specially added as companies can't gain monopoly of any form related to fuel or energy).
- The car should have a feature to turn off auto pilot at user’s will.
- The car should not allow any other authority other than the driver to choice it’s destination like government, agencies or any authority even if required in serious conditions to maintain user's privacy and rights.
- The car should know when to ethically take decision to dim lights.
- The car should not have any build in automatic weapons for any purpose.
For the assignment purpose 10 points were enough and it is submitted already. What are your thoughts about this topic? Can you point out any other ethical concerns related to Self-Driving Cars?
Truth be told there will probably be many different business models around this as people license the software to car manufacturers. It will be seen as an upcharge or service added to a premium vehicle already.
I can see some using a less profit derived model just to get the car on the road to mine a bunch of data that can be sold to marketing agencies... It all just depends on how we as consumers and people who care can spread that information out to public awareness.
Whenever there is profit there are always ethics constantly being tested/questioned
The spread of information and questions to question and challenge the status quo is how we can play that small ripple effect to being heard and getting something done about this matter.

I honestly think that is why it isn't already in mass production is that people care right? Think of the job loss it was cause right now also with uber and many others.
I think the world cares more than what we give it credit for at times <3 team awareness and education is what we need for mass understanding/adoption though keep up the amazing work and happy holidays.

Listing up possible scenarios and building rules around these can be one way, but since self driving will continuously learn and advance itself it may be important and interesting to establish the 'right'(what is right? is another question) foundational values into AI directly. Like human, AI would need to have its own value and learn based on it.
