RE: I Worry About the Algorithm Choosing our Stories

in ThoughtfulDailyPost2 months ago (edited)

I feel it too. This summer I've forced myself to read for at least twenty minutes a day and I felt my attention span coming back after a few days and I started looking forward to that regular reading time. I feel SO much better when I'm reading something.

Yes, I think the independent authors have, almost, unsurmountable obstacles (especially with the growing proficiency of A.I.). I continue it because I love it and because I have to keep creating (if I don't depression descends).

Whoa, that's really sad about the secondhand books. I imagine there will be a backlash at some point, where people realize what they're missing.

Sort:

You know, there are kids out there resisting via reading. My 25 yo daughter in law said she'd been out of touch because 'shes reading, not scrolling'. Here they are trying to push a bill that bans under 14s from social media. It starts with parenting, but what happens when the parents are addicts!

What are you reading? Anything good? Twenty minutes a day - good idea!

I love that! I hadn't heard about that "movement" but I'm glad it's finally happening. Yes, I heard about the social media ban and I was just telling my Mom the other day I think 14 should be the legal age that you can access social media worldwide. It makes all the sense in the world.

I'm reading -- The Creature from Jekyll Island, Bourdain's Bio, Imminent by Luis Elizondo, and A Bone In The Throat by Tony Bourdain. This was my first time reading Bourdain's fiction and it's actually not bad.

Thanks! Actually scheduling the time to read has made all the difference in the world. I've read more this summer than I ever have...around 20 books so far. How about you? Have you found any great ones lately?
