Oh well, never thought about perfumes this way! You surely opened my eyes (or nostrils lol) and I'll give more attention to this from now on.
I've always weared perfumes that have been gifted to me, so I never chose them and I don't have the empty bottles so I can't recall those memories unless I smell them somewhere else, pretty improbable.
Now I have my own first perfume. It's a cheap one, and I chose that because it has a stronger, more pungent and mature smell. Guess because I want to smell more like a confident man than a silly teenager? Don't really know.
One thing is sure: I hate spending 40-50 or more Euro on a perfume, so my choosing is limited to what I find in cheap stores
That makes sense :D It's interesting how we decide what constitutes a "mature" scent and a silly, immature one, isn't it? Sounds like you're a drifter like me.
And I agree - I don't see the point in spending on expensive brands anymore, especially finding knock-offs or no-brand perfumes that last longer and smell better at 10 Eur or under.
