How did we get to this point, in a country that is blessed with natural resources, apart from petroleum, Nigeria's other natural resources include natural gas, tin, iron ore, coal, limestone, niobium, lead, zinc and arable land. The oil and gas sector accounts for about 10 per cent of gross domestic product, and petroleum exports revenue represents around 86 per cent of total exports revenue, yet its hard to survive and live a normal life without fear of the unknown.
They said we should go to school that education is the key to solve our problems, but it seems education is the problem because it’s not a means to survive anymore. A country where we have PhD holders with theirs CV’s striving hard to get jobs; should we call that over qualification?
They asked us to start learning hand-work that it would help reduce unemployed, and insecurity subsequently. We didn’t mind we started training, learning one or two to be able to stand on our own. But empowerment to start the business from the government we didn’t get. How do we start a business when there is no money to start?
People go extra miles to seek for funds, loans or grants, somehow it always turn out negative. For how long do we continue like this... We know the storm will be over one day, but how much longer can we hold it.
As we call on God for intervention, let’s also keep trying to help each other grow. Please anyway we can help ourselves to move forward in life, our families, neighbors, friends let’s do.
