people don’t need to be able to get in touch with me 24/7/365. I have always placed a fairly high value on the kind of privacy
I am of the same mind on this. I hardly ever have my ringer on, and I don't check for calls or texts constantly. A few times a day is sufficient.
Mainly I keep the phone silent and out of reach because I don't like context changes. Meaning, if I am working on a Hive post or one of the games I'm programming, or whatever requires some concentration and continuity, I don't like being interrupted. It takes a bit of time to get back into the deeper things I am working on, and I do a lot of thinking before actually typing, so I might lose some valuable thought if I'm disturbed by the dang phone!
