How did we actually get here? Sheer coincidence or an act of God?
I know the answer! And you will too—right after you read this article.
Disclaimer: I got this idea from a 12-year-old, so you might as well discard everything you read beyond this point (that is, if you even care enough to continue reading this). Hehe.
Anyway, back to the topic—how did we get here? Who (or what) created the world?
Science would argue for the Big Bang Theory, while religious believers would say that God, perhaps out of boredom , decided to create tiny little imitations of herself known as humans. Whether it was for a divine purpose or sheer entertainment, we’ll never truly know, but if you ask me, I'd say it was the latter.
At the core of it, I think both sides have an incomplete understanding of creation. But the intrinsic human desire to know has driven us to craft the most viable explanations we can. And for me? I tend to lean toward the religious perspective—not necessarily out of conviction, but because it feels more logical than the alternative.
I refuse to accept that our entire existence is just a cosmic accident. Even if the universe did emerge from the Big Bang, what existed before that? And how did that come to be? Science, for all its advancements, has yet to answer that fundamental question.
So, for now, I find it more convenient to believe that our world was purposely created—by someone or something—even if I cannot explain what predates that entity. Maybe that purpose is to worship an all-knowing God who may strike you dead before you even finish reading this "blasphemous" article. Maybe it’s something else entirely. One thing I know though is that my belief is not born of unshakable faith but rather built on logic and convenience.
Perhaps one day, I’ll find the conviction that many others possess, and sincerely, I hope I do. I want to. But until then, I’ll hold on to what I have—at least until I find a better one.
