My first time out

Greetings!

The best part of me is my family and to be separated from my family for any reason used to get me sick. No wonder there's this popular saying that says, " Blood is thicker than water." Yes, this is just the absolute truth and blood can never be at the same level with water. So, for this reason, family can never be compared to any other thing or unit in the society.
Though, I have always been with my family members, most especially my parents and my siblings and this is because I have no course to leave them for any moment of my life. The only time I left my family was when I went to spend the holiday with my grandparents at the village and I didn't even spend up to a week before I fell sick and it's then my parents were contacted to come and take me home.

Aside this, the other time I would say I left my parents was when I gained admission into the university, but before then, my parents ,most especially my mum would not allow me to go to a far distance university, but instead, told me to choose a university in the town and her aim was that I would be coming home everyday. Though, not comfortable with the move, but I just have to take it like that just because of my past experiences having left them to visit my grandparents.

But after my university education, I had not choice than to leave them and go for my NYSC one year mandatory service. Though, my mum tried her best when it's time for me to go for my one year national youth service, but all to no avail and even unfortunately, I was posted to the far north and when my mum saw my call up letter, she would not allow me to go, if not for my dad intervention. My dad was the one who insisted that I must go, he told her that I'm matured enough to be alone. Though, I also wanted to go, but with mixed feeling of how I would cope without my parents.

So, on that particular day, that I will have to go to camp for the NYSC camping, my mum was being emotional thinking of so many thing including how I would cope in the strange land, as she's seeing me off in the cab that took us to the park, she was also crying and I too could not even control my emotion as tears was running down my cheek. So, when we got the park, I boarded a luxurious bus going to Kano and we both bade ourselves farewell. But throughout my journey to the camp, my mum wouldn't allow my phone to rest, even the lady that sat beside me was just looking at me as a small boy, but who cared?

So, when I got to the camp, everything looked strange without my family, most especially for the night I spent on camp, so at the camp, we spent three weeks with the kano scorching sun, but there's nothing we could do to prevent the hand of nature that touched everyone. So, after the three weeks, I was expected to go back home to be with my family, but I decided to stay back at the expense of my mum's request of coming home. Though, she's not really happy with my decision, but we used to contact ourselves via calls. Throughout my stay on camp, my mum would not only chat or call me via WhatsApp or normal phone call, but would even do video call with me.

So, after the three weeks spent on camp, I was posted to a secondary school at wudil, and thank God the network in this community was really okay and it's everytime my family and myself used to talk on phone, even whenever I was not available, messages would have been left for me and once I open my phone, the first thing that would pop up was their messages. It's really home from home and thanks to the advent of technology that has made my stay away from home and my family a easy and lively one.

So, before we all knew it, the one year mandatory service was left with a week and when I called my family that I would be coming home finally in a week time, they were all happy and were even anxious to seeing me and I too could not even wait to be back home with them and on the day I would be coming home, I left very early in the morning and before I could get home, it's late in the night and it's my dad and my younger brother that came to fetch me from.the park with my mum staying back home to prepare my favorite meal. At the park, when my younger sister saw me on arrival, she jumped up and screamed my name, she was so happy to scream my name not minding the hour of the night, my dad also came close to hug and embrace me and we all left for home, on getting home, my mum left what she's doing at her kitchen to meet me, she hugged me and was happy to seeing me back home.

Now, throughout that night, we all gistef and I narrated everything I encountered in Kano to everyone, they were all excited to listen to me and when food was ready we all went to eat the sumptuous meal prepared by my mum and after the meal, I took my bath and went to bed. The following morning, my mum.was the first to come knocking at the doors of my room and when she came in she prayed for me and for a week I was treated to royalty. It's really a nice experience.
