Conversations With My daughter

I have really been enjoying the conversations that my eldest daughter and I have. Every now and again she comes to me with a question or some new information that she has heard, or another persons way of thinking. I'm enjoying, watching her broaden her mind, by exploring more of the world around her. She's not afraid to speak her mind, to share her opinion and neither am I. Which always leads to really interesting conversations.

Today she came to me, after watching a clip from a documentary, where a young woman, was saying that she didn't want to have children in this world. To her the earth is a shit show right now. I get why she would think like that, especially because of what is happening in the world at present. But ultimately. it makes me sad to think, she views the world like that. That what she is focusing on, is purely the negative. Yes there is a lot of shit happening in the world today, lots that we are being exposed to. But there is also, some amazing things happening. Some people are doing amazing things.

What we need now, are children that are more aware, more confident, that will go on create a change in the world. That can help to steer things n a better direction, or are we just meant to give up and to watch the world, crash and burn. Well in a way, certain things do need to come to an end, as we make the way for something better. I think we are watching certain things collapse, as more people are becoming aware and with them hopefully they will pass that onto their children. I really don't think we should give up.

It's pretty obvious to me, how the sanctuary of the family, has been under attack for a long time. With children spending less and less time with their parents. With both parents having to work, to maintain the life that they have. With modern technology and social media, where even when they are together they are all on devices. Hardly interacting with one another. Parents trying so hard to maintain a dream that was sold to them, but ultimately makes them slaves to the system.

I made certain choices in my life, which enabled me to be with my girls as much as possible. Being able to give them my time, my presence. Because I know, how much of a foundation that, it gives them. I sacrificed certain comforts in life, so that I can do that. But it never felt like a sacrifice to me, to me it has been a gift to have that time with them. Such a gift.

My daughter is unsure, whether or not she wants to have children. That young woman really got her thinking. Which of course is a good thing. It's really important that we make informed decisions, informed choices in life. I made, what I consider to be the best choice, for me and my girls. I have no regrets, choosing to live so simply, so that I can have more time for them. I also am happy for that to change a little now as well, because change is an important part of life.

Giving your time to your children, is so important. Especially, when you get to see them grow into wonderful humans.

When I first saw the title of your post, what came to mind was that, you must have really created that bond from the beginning with her which is what makes it easier for her to seat and converse her thoughts to you.

For that, I applaud you because I know it is not easy.

Truth be told, just as you said, a lot is crashing down in our world, especially when it comes to family. Family isn't the same way it was years back. With technology and all, many people have drawn away from each other. It is our sad reality.

I saw a mockumentary yesterday, and the lady also mentioned being not interested in having her child. And, it is just the same with a higher percentage of women nowadays. It is their decision, but still, it is a scary one.

We all the right to our decisions and should converse(just like you and your daughter) with closed ones on before carrying on with our conclusions.
