Introducing myself

I guess its time to introduce myself. Below is a picture of me...or at least a drawing of me that a Japanese Exchange student made of me a while back (maybe a long while back). Perhaps I'll send an actual picture later but for now I like that one.

As for who I am?

Well, I've been a Christian for a long long time. I've been a Pharmacist for 26 years, I've been married for a little less than that at 22 years and I have two teen sons aged 18 and 16.

While I'm on Ecency I'm hoping to send a message or two out there about things I'm working on.

Right now those things are:

1. Convincing my sons that cooking is important

Soon enough my sons will be on their own and eating out all the time will just make them fat and broke. However, they don't believe me that cooking at home is important and I'm a truly awful cook. Over the next year I'm going to run the numbers on various types of food and try to show them that eating out isn't great for them and cooking will save them huge cash.

While doing this hopefully I can lose a few pounds. It's hard to say no to eating out myself but maybe if I can see how much cheaper it is to eat in I'll be motivated to cook at home and save some money.

2. I love free to play games, investing and finding ways to save money

I'll likely be posting on how to make money using Splinterlands. Hint: It all starts with posting on the Hive network to make a little coin to start! However, Receipt Hog, Premise, Coin world app, Swagbucks and other fun play2earn like apps also get my attention so I'll probably post about them sooner or later.

My goal for the coming year: use Hive to puchase a Jackery/Bluetti/??? Power station for my off-grid endeavors. Which leads me to ...

3. I really want to develop land I have and I'll take pictures along the way

I have property both in Northwestern BC (Rosswood) and in the Philippines (Maddarulug Sur). I want both of them to be off-grid, self sufficient, and beautiful places. If things go well I'd love to turn them into Air BnB, campgrounds, or RV site, or maybe just a great place for other Hive members to come visit. Who knows maybe I can convince Agroed that they would make great Splinterlands real world bases :)

4. I love travelling. Nature. Wildlife and the Outdoors

Now that my time as a Pharmacist is winding down (working towards retirement) and my duties as a Dad are winding down (kids are become self sufficient adults) I'm really hoping to see more of the world, more wide open spaces, go on more nature hikes, and just take pictures of this wonderful world we call home.

My cheap nature means I'm always trying to find the best deal out there on travel. If COVID ever lets up maybe I'll post about how to find great travel deals out there and pictures along the way.

5. I'm hoping to meet interesting people while I'm here

I'm not really very sociable and my kids always laugh at me about how bad my people skills are. However, maybe I'll get lucky and meet some people on the site who are interested in things I am.

Preserving nature and being a caretaker of the earth we have
Seeing new places and new cultures
Having fun playing games
Saving money and investing
