Introduction

This post will serve to answer certain questions and doubts that you guys have proposed in the Discord and blogs. We will be as transparent as possible when answering your questions. First, we will introduce the team and then we'll talk more about the project and how it came about up to this stage.

Meet the Team

Currently, our team consists of only four members, and we do not have plans to expand our team in the near future. However, if our community experiences significant growth, we may consider adding more members to ensure effective community management.
Now, let's take a closer look at each team member's background and skills to provide you with a better understanding of their individual ideas and capabilities.

Marco (Developer)

@s0nikkukun

Marco is a 23-year-old Portuguese developer that started learning programming at the age of 14. Since then, he has acquired a diverse range of skills and expertise in various domains, including game development, websites, apps and electronics. Among these areas, Marco's true passion lies in crafting multiplayer games, which he pursues as a hobby.
Over the years, Marco has actively participated in game jams, created multiple unreleased games, practiced freelancing and dedicated his time to enhancing his optimization and networking skills. This commitment has enabled him to cultivate a deep understanding of game development and refine his skills to a remarkable level. On the gaming side, Marco has also played web3 games such as Axie Infinity, Splinterlands, as a way to understand more about play to earn games.

John (Developer)

@orangefoxy

João, who in the English version is John, was born in Portugal, currently 23 years old and a developer. He started with his passion of playing with computers and programming at the age of 15. Over time, he has been self-exploring and discovering other knowledge on his own and succeeding in increasing his vast knowledge with technologies, languages and tools. Along the way, he dedicated himself more to the development of applications (computers/mobiles) and also in the area of networking and security. He has been CTO of several private companies where he took responsibility for the dynamics of development and networking for the successful operation of the companies. In conclusion, he is glad to have found Hive and to be a part of it with you.

Shawn (Community Manager)

@shawnnft

Shawn is a 27 year old blogger and gamer from Malaysia that grew up in California. He finished a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management & Innovation from Victoria University in 2020. Currently, he's doing Events & Administration work with part time blogging on Hive and investing/trading in NFT’s and crypto. He has been gaming since a kid and got into web3 gaming February 2021. He started with Gods Unchained and Axie Infinity. He used to be a Axie Scholar Manager that helped manage scholars for Axie. From then on he was super into the web3 space especially towards the gaming side of things. Now he’s fairly invested into the Hive ecosystem with almost 1.5k Hive Power and almost 4k in Splinterland assets. He founded a guild on Splinterlands called Forbidden Summoners and even manages two other guilds for his friend called New Bot Order and New Bot Order 2. He’s also currently Assistant Game Master for Balthazar Guild for Splinterlands. He’s excited to be part of the RaceValley team and can’t wait to work together with Marco, John and Trey to create the best racing car game on Hive!

Below is a more detailed summary about Shawn, you can check out his introduction post here from peakd. https://peakd.com/hive-167922/@shawnnft/who-is-shawnnft

Trey (Technical Assistant)

@treytrillionaire

Trey is a 33 year old network administrator by day and crypto enthusiast by night. He was in the crypto space from 2019 researching the ins and outs of the technology. He has since joined a few crypto communities and found an opportunity to dive deeper as a community moderator. He got the chance to see behind the scenes of a crypto project and gained valuable information in regards to marketing, security practices, organizing community events and writing technical documents for the team. He also utilizes his experience in the computer space to guide and tutor new members to navigate the crypto space. He also blogs when he has free time and he also likes to teach people about blockchain technology. He worked in the Hospitality industry for a number of years for Sandals Resort Inc and gained loads of experience interacting with large teams and managing technical complaints for many customers at a time.

The beginning

For the past three years, Marco and John have been working together on various projects and exploring blockchain technology along the way. And one day an idea emerged: the development of a blockchain racing game.
And so, for one year, they’ve been learning about blockchain technology and refining the game concept more and more. Eventually, they came across Hive and after carefully analyzing all the available blockchain options, they made the decision to choose Hive because of the following:

  • Having regenerative Resource Credits instead of a transaction fee removes the limitation that most games have, that is static NFTs. In RaceValley, you can install parts on cars and make upgrades, if players had to pay a transaction fee for all of that, the game would be unplayable.
  • Being a 2nd layer blockchain makes it easier for the community to interact with the apps and removes the need for smart contracts, which would not be cheap to maintain.
  • Being a social blockchain makes it great for new projects to start, as people earn by blogging, they usually love to explore and talk about other projects.

Questions

The RaceValley Team acknowledges the concerns outlined in this post “Race Valley : a Successful Future Hive Game or a Future Bad Investment? My analysis + Questions to the Development Team! (ENG/ITA)” by one of our valued community members. The team would hopefully like to clarify these concerns mentioned surrounding the lack of “weight” and “activity” on the Hive ecosystem and the capabilities of the team.

Is Race Valley your first experience creating a blockchain-based game?

Marco and John have dealt with Solidity smart contracts before. If the point of this question is to know about the experience on blockchain, the Hive blockchain is different from the others, so that experience is not totally applied to Hive. However, if that’s not the case, then a game is still a game and it should be fun in the first place.
The difference between a web2 game to a web3 game is the economy. And RaceValley has an ecosystem with well thought economy and mechanics.

On what basis or past experience should a Hiver invest in your project?

The Hive community is our starting point, allowing us to connect with like-minded enthusiasts and introduce our game to a passionate audience. However, we have even bigger goals beyond Hive. We want to expand our reach and attract web2 racing gamers from all around the world.
We understand that the team does not have the weight and activity on Hive required to bring confidence to investors, but understand that Marco and John are not bloggers, they are developers and joined Hive solely for RaceValley. As for Shawn, he is a very active member, and Trey is also trying to follow the same path as him.

Do you plan to invest in Hive to support the Hive ecosystem before selling the game assets e.g. by increasing the amount of HP in the @racevalley account? Or not?

We are committed to the Hive ecosystem. To ensure uninterrupted transaction processing without depleting our Resource Credits, we may need to consider increasing our Hive Power. Other than that, our investment is focused on the game.

How do you plan to invest the profit from the sale of the game assets?

The project will be divided into two main components: the Hive ecosystem and game development. Our strategy involves reinvesting a portion of the revenue generated back into the Hive ecosystem, while also focusing on the future development of the RaceValley project. As the game expands, there will be an increasing demand for Resource Credits. However, it's important to allocate funds for essential expenses such as servers, team members' compensation, partnerships, and marketing. Balancing these financial requirements will be crucial for sustaining and growing the project effectively.

Summary

The RaceValley team hopes this reply answers the concerns you and others in the community may share about our dedication to the Hive Ecosystem.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone in the RaceValley community for your support and we look forward to providing you with a high quality car racing game. So buckle up your seatbelts as we are about to embark on an exciting journey!

Sincerely,
The RaceValley Team
