HELLO HIVE COMMUNITY! my name is Denys and I come to embark on a story full of music. In traditional social networks you can find me as denysmusic, I gave myself that name because I play several instruments: violin, guitar, bass, piano, drums, Venezuelan cuatro and mandolin. But the truth is that my passion and life is my violin, I have always felt that it is like an extension of my body and soul.
Empecé mis estudios musicales a los 8 años de edad gracias a mi padre que me inscribió en la orquesta juvenil de Carúpano, es una anécdota muy linda que en otro momento quizás les cuente. luego fui creciendo en esa orquesta hasta formar parte de la sinfónica del Estado Sucre y la orquesta de cámara Antonio Vivaldi, con la que viaje por muchos países aun cuando era un niño.
I began my musical studies at the age of 8 years old thanks to my father who enrolled me in the youth orchestra of Carúpano, it is a very nice anecdote that at another time maybe I will tell you. Then I grew up in that orchestra until I was part of the symphony orchestra of Sucre State and the chamber orchestra Antonio Vivaldi, with which I traveled to many countries even when I was a child.
Carúpano es un puerto a orillas de las aguas del mar caribe, que tiene mucha riqueza cultural, folklore, danzas, música y los mejores carnavales de Venezuela. Ahí nací y tuve la dicha de venir de un hogar donde mi padre era un excelente músico y cantante y mi madre tenía (o tiene) un oído musical excelente y un gusto particular por el Rock. Sin contar con la suerte de haber crecido en frente de la casa de la cultura que llevaba el nombre del gran folclorista Venezolano “Luis Mariano Rivera”.
Carúpano is a port on the shores of the Caribbean Sea, which has a lot of cultural richness, folklore, dances, music and the best carnivals in Venezuela. I was born there and I was fortunate to come from a home where my father was an excellent musician and singer and my mother had (or has) an excellent musical ear and a particular taste for Rock. Not to mention the good fortune of having grown up in front of the house of culture named after the great Venezuelan folklorist "Luis Mariano Rivera".
Luego me mudé a Cumaná, a ser parte de la orquesta sinfónica del Estado Sucre, ahí crecí como violinista, bajo el ala de grandes maestros que a lo largo de todos mis años formando parte de sus filas, llegue a convertirme en concertino y profesor de violín de los niños de la sinfónica infantil y juvenil del mismo sistema, hasta fui director de una orquesta juvenil por 6 años.
Then I moved to Cumana, to be part of the symphony orchestra of the State of Sucre, there I grew as a violinist, under the wing of great teachers that throughout all my years being part of their ranks, I became concertmaster and violin teacher of the children of the children and youth symphony of the same system, I was even director of a youth orchestra for 6 years.
El día que llegue a Cumaná conocí quien sería en adelante uno de mis mejores amigos y hermano, Jonathan y es cuando mi vida dio un giro, pues los dos nos embarcamos en una vida de rock con varias bandas que formamos hasta llegar a ohmio, donde llegue a consolidarme como compositor y ganar muchos premios nacionales. Ahí, algo distante del violín que acostumbraba, me dedique a tocar guitarra eléctrica.
The day I arrived in Cumaná I met Jonathan, who would later become one of my best friends and brother, and that is when my life took a turn, because we both embarked on a life of rock with several bands that we formed until we reached ohmio, where I consolidated as a composer and won many national awards. There, somewhat distant from the violin I used to play, I dedicated myself to playing electric guitar.
Todo esto tan bonito que les he contado lo vivi en un país, que venia en declive tanto político como económico y social, cosa que no es un secreto para nadie. Quizá la vida del artista en Venezuela pueda considerarse dentro de una burbuja que nos permite crecer incluso en la adversidad, sin embargo las burbujas estallan, y un día, por un evento que prefiero no mencionar, tome la decisión de salir de Venezuela en busca de nuevas oportunidades como otros cuantos de millones de personas.
All this beautiful thing that I have told you I lived in a country that was in political, economic and social decline, which is no secret to anyone. Perhaps the life of the artist in Venezuela can be considered within a bubble that allows us to grow even in adversity, however bubbles burst, and one day, for an event that I prefer not to mention, I made the decision to leave Venezuela in search of new opportunities like millions of other people.
¿Por qué Argentina? pues, de niño en uno de los viajes que hice con la Orquesta de Camara Antonio Vivaldi conocí mas de 18 ciudades enamorándome totalmente de la Gran Buenos Aires, su arquitectura, el tango y la gente, hizo que escogiera esta hermosa ciudad y la escogería nuevamente.
Why Argentina? Well, as a child in one of the trips I made with the Antonio Vivaldi Chamber Orchestra, I visited more than 18 cities and fell in love with Greater Buenos Aires, its architecture, the tango and the people, made me choose this beautiful city and I would choose it again.
Cuando llegue a Buenos Aires, en el 2016, buscando orquestas donde tocar hice la audición en la Orquesta Académica de Buenos Aires, siendo escogido para ser parte de uno de los 16 violinistas de la orquesta, con la grata sorpresa de encontrarme con 3 hermanos venezolanos en la fila de violines, llegando a ser luego de un año, mas de 20. Luego me abrí paso a otras orquestas sinfónicas de la ciudad como la de San Isidro, la orquesta Power Up, y otros elencos que se forman eventualmente para opera y ballet que se presenten en la ciudad.
When I arrived in Buenos Aires, in 2016, looking for orchestras where to play I auditioned in the Academic Orchestra of Buenos Aires, being chosen to be part of one of the 16 violinists of the orchestra, with the pleasant surprise of finding myself with 3 Venezuelan brothers in the row of violins, becoming after a year, more than 20. Then I made my way to other symphony orchestras in the city such as San Isidro, the Power Up orchestra, and other ensembles that are eventually formed for opera and ballet that are presented in the city.
Como músico académico era muy difícil imaginar para mí que la calle es también un buen escenario. Me animé a romper los paradigmas y mis propias barreras mentales cuando vi a artistas profesionales que se disponían a tocar en los andenes del subte de la capital argentina. Y así, con mucha vergüenza, un día que recuerdo, no había nadie en la estación, toqué “por una cabeza” y poco a poco fui avanzando y ampliando mi repertorio, conociendo a otros grandes músicos y haciendo nuevos buenos amigos.
Conocí la plataforma por medio de mi amiga cantante y hermosísima @gabiotabalbas y me encanto la idea de compartir música en esta comunidad, y también contenido de todas las demás cosas que me apasionan como el fútbol, la cocina, el audio, la tecnología y los videojuegos. As an academic musician it was very difficult for me to imagine that the street is also a good stage. I was encouraged to break the paradigms and my own mental barriers when I saw professional artists preparing to play on the subway platforms of the Argentine capital. And so, with a lot of embarrassment, one day that I remember, there was no one in the station, I played "for a head" and little by little I was advancing and expanding my repertoire, meeting other great musicians and making new good friends.
I met the platform through my singer and beautiful friend @gabiotabalbas and I loved the idea of sharing music in this community, and also content of all the other things I'm passionate about like soccer, cooking, audio, technology and video games.
