The truth is that this taste is beyond the reach of many Cubans, but thank God I had the opportunity to take them, firstly to my mother and then to my father. I took them on separate days because they are precisely separated because they are no longer a couple, although that has not undermined in any way the exemplary fulfillment of their duties as father and mother because they take great care in everything. In this story I will tell about the first trip, that of mother. It all started in February, the month of her anniversary, but for work reasons she arrived in Cuba on a date after her birthday, but yes, the gift of taking her to Varadero if she went.
En la vida nos trazamos metas, algunas personales mientras otras el regosijo se halla en la felicidad de la persona querida, y en lo particular creo que ahí es donde se deben de encontrar los padres adnegados y yo, por suerte, tengo a los mejores, y que meta mas linda la de poder darles un gusto con algo que es el sueño de cubanos y de personas foráneos tambien que es el de no solo ir a conocer varadero sino disfrutarla en toda su amplitud. Este gusto la verdad esta fuera del alcance de muchos cubanos pero gracias a dios tuve la oportunidad de llevarlos, primeramente a mi madre y seguidamente a mi padre. Los lleve en días separados pues precisamente se hallan separados pues ya no forman pareja aunque eso no ha socabado en nada el ejemplar cumplimiento de sus deberes como padre y madre pues se esmeran en todo. En este relato contare sobre el primer viaje, el de madre. Todo comenzó el mes de febrero, mes de su aniversario pero por razones laborales llegue a cuba fue en fecha posterior a la de su cumpleaños, pero eso si, el regalo de llevarla a varadero si iba.

Once we had paid and had the hotel reservation ticket, we went and surprised Mommy, who practically cried tears of joy when she saw them. On the appointed day we got up early, with everything collected from the previous day, arriving early at the collection point. At the appointed time, the transport destined for foreign tourists arrived and although we were Cubans we were inside them, something many years before was unthinkable for a Cuban because it was only destined for foreigners.
Llegué junto con mi hermano a una agencia de reservaciones de hoteles de varadero y tras ver las opciones nos espantó para mami, como cariñosamente la llamamos, uno ubicado en el centro de la ciudad de matanzas, con una atención tradicional y aunque su construcción data de la década de los 50 nos aclararon que contaba con todas las comodidades de un hotel 3 estrellas. Una vez pagado y tenido el boleto de reservación del hotel fuimos y le dimos la sorpresa a mami, que al verlas prácticamente se le salieron las lágrimas de la alegria. El día señalado nos levantamos temprano, ya con todo recogido del día anterior, llegando temprano al punto de recogida. A la hora señalada llego el transporte destinado a los turistas extranjeros y aunque eramos cubanos estuvimos dentro de ellos, algo muchos años anteriores era cosa impensable para un cubano pues solo estaba destinado a extranjeros.

When we arrived at the hotel we were amazed at its architecture, around 30 stories high divided into two blocks, a large garden in the common area and a swimming pool that invited you to take a dip. El viaje fue armónico, cómodo, con un aire acondicionado que rajaba las piedras como decimos los cubanos, con música cubana durante todo el viaje que probocaba tirar un pasillito como se dice en buen cubano aunque no fuera mi fuerte el baile. Cuando llegamos al hotel quedamos maravillados con la arquitectura del mismo, alrededor de 30 pisos de altura dividida en dos bloques, un amplio jardín en el área común y una piscina que invitaba a darse un chapuzón. Una vez registrados en la recepción y colocada la manilla que te identifica como huésped con todos los gastos incluidos, rápidamente fuimos a la habitación a dejar los bultos y para abajo rápido nuevamente que había que ir a gozar la papeleta como se dice en buen cubano.
Right away we ran into a kiosk specializing in fast food, where they offered hot dogs and hamburgers, ordering one of each for both of us, since the trip, although pleasant, gave us an appetite. With our appetite satisfied, we headed to the beach. We were amazed at how beautiful the beach was, white sands, turquoise blue water, chairs to enjoy on the edge of the beach and a desire to get into the enormous sea. The beach without any waves was to our liking. In the afternoon, after bathing and removing the salt water from our bodies, we headed towards the dinner buffet table, with exquisite dishes at our mercy, including beef, pork and fish, rice in different preparations, salads of different shapes, Exquisite desserts including ice cream of various flavors and finally we ate everything, each thing tastier than the other, until we were paunchy from so much we ate.
Enseguida nos topamos con un quiosco especializado en comida rápida, donde brindaba perro caliente y hamburguesas pidiendo uno de cada uno para ambos pues el viaje aunque ameno nos dio apetito. Ya saceado el apetito nos dirigimos a la playa. Quedamos maravillados de lo bella que era la playa, arenas blancas, el agua azul turquesa, sillas para disfrutar a la orilla de la playa y unos deseos de meternos en el mar enorme. La playa sin nada de olas fue de todo nuestro agrado. En la tarde tras bañarnos y sacarnos el agua salada sobre nuestro cuerpo nos dirigimos hacia la mesa bufet de la cena, con exquisitos platillos a nuestra merced, entre ellos carne de res, cerdo y pescado, arroz en diferentes preparaciones, ensaladas de disímiles formas, postres exquisitos incluyendo helado de varios sabores y en fin que comimos de todo, cada cosa mas sabrosa que la otra, hasta quedar barrigones de lo tanto que comimos.
So were the 3 days with 2 nights we spent at the hotel. In the room there was satellite TV but with so much to see and enjoy outside we didn't even turn it on, just once for testing only. My mother really enjoyed all those days, I enjoy it to the fullest and I with her. Already the day of leaving, exhausted from so much coming and going but with our wishes fulfilled we sat in the lobby to wait for transportation with some of the most beautiful cats that walked through the lobby, they chose us as their pets and accompanied us all the time We were in the hotel lobby. Once the transport arrived, we got on and also enjoyed the comfortable trip back, with the desire to return again soon.
Asi fueron los 3 días con 2 noches que pasamos en el hotel. En la habitación había televisión satelital pero con tanto que ver y disfrutar afuera ni lo encendimos, solo una vez para prueba solamente. Mi madre gozo de lo lindo todos esos días, disfruto al maximo y yo con ella. Ya el día de irnos, agotados de tanto ir y venis pero con los deseos cumplidos nos sentamos en el loby a esperar el transporte con unos gatos de los mas bonitos que se paseaban por el loby nos escogieron como sus acariciadores y nos acompañaron todo el tiempo que estuvimos en el loby del hotel. Una vez llegado el transporte nos montamos y disfrutamos tambien el viaje cómodo de regreso, como los deseos de regresar nuevamente pronto.
