Hola Hive, ¿qué tal? ¿Todo bien? Mi nombre es Dorián Pérez Rodríguez y soy un jovenzuelo de 25 años. Soy cubano, pero de un pedacito de tierra muy privilegiado sin apagones: Varadero (soy la envidia de @juanmadota, que por cierto, me invitó a unirme). No podría enumerar mis gustos en pocas líneas, soy un ser muy curioso, y es tanto así que he tenido muchos problemas para enfocarme en mis estudios sin desviar mi atención hacia un tema nuevo. Por tanto trataré de reducirlos, así que dividámoslos en 2 categorías: intereses académicos y hobbies. Me gusta la programación, las matemáticas, la física y la ciencia en general, el dibujo y el inglés. Recientemente me he interesado por la economía. ¿Mi motivación? No soporto ver las mentiras que se dicen en el televisor, mucho menos ver como logran engañar a mis padres. También me gustan los videojuegos, el anime, cantar en la ducha (si no hay nadie cerca mejor 😅) y amo, con toda la mayúscula y negrita del mundo, el FÚTBOL.

Si se preguntan qué hago con mi vida, pues no mucho, la verdad. Soy estudiante de 3er Año de Informática en la Universidad de Matanzas. La escogí simplemente porque me gustaba andar en una computadora, pero no tenía ni idea lo que significaba ser informático ni que hacían esos gordos vagos que no se paran de una silla XD. El primer año no estaba muy enfocado, e incluso llegué a ir a mundial (es como la última oportunidad que tienes para aprobar la asignatura) en "Introducción a la Programación" (que vergüenza 😖). Las clases las dábamos en una pizarra y sin siquiera ir una vez al laboratorio a tocar una PC. Tampoco había visto una consola de comandos en mi vida, así que cómo iba a imaginar lo que se veía al ejecutar el código. De todas formas la culpa era mía, teniendo un montón de herramientas extras en internet, no le dediqué ni siquiera un momento al curso de C# que había descargado. Pero una vez que empecé a estudiar para el mundial quedé cautivado con la belleza del lenguaje y lo que podía hacer programando. Realmente me subía el ego al ver que podía predecir lo que iba a salir en la consola y se sentía muy satisfactorio.
If you're wondering what I do with my life, well, not much, really. I am a 3rd year student of Computer Science at the University of Matanzas. I chose it simply because I liked to be on a computer, but I had no idea what it meant to be a computer scientist or what those fat slobs who don't get up from a chair do XD. The first year I wasn't very focused, and I even got to go the third call for the final exam in "Introduction to Programming" (what a shame 😖). We gave the classes on a whiteboard and without even once going to the lab to touch a PC. I had never seen a command console in my life either, so how could I imagine what it looked like to run the code. Anyway the fault was mine, having a lot of extra tools on the internet, I didn't even dedicate a moment to the C# course I had downloaded. But once I started studying for the test I was captivated with the beauty of the language and what I could do programming. It really boosted my ego to see that I could predict what was going to come up on the console and it felt very satisfying.

La universidad no ha supuesto un reto, la verdad, no porque yo sea un genio, sino porque lamentablemente los profesores no tienen deseos de enseñar y el plan de la carrera tiene muchas asignaturas de relleno. No hay proyectos de programación, no hay pruebas que te estimulen a estudiar o que te saquen un buen susto, y puedo contar con los dedos de una mano las veces que hemos hecho algo en las computadoras del laboratorio (aunque sea iniciar Windows). Muchas veces nos sentamos a dar la clase en la pizarra teniendo un montón de computadoras alrededor y las pruebas han sido todas en hojas de papel. Así que prefiero jugar al autodidacta que se traba pero lo consigue, que esperar a que los profesores me lleven de la manita hasta mi entrevista de trabajo, cosa que jamás esperaré.

The truth is University has not been a challenge, and that´s not because I am a genius, but because unfortunately the professors have no desire to teach and the career plan has a lot of filler subjects. There are no programming projects, there are no tests to stimulate you to study or at least to scare you, and I can count on the fingers of one hand the times we have done something on the computers in the lab (even if it is starting Windows). Many times we sit down to lecture at the whiteboard having a bunch of computers around and the tests have all been on sheets of paper. So I'd rather play the autodidact who gets stuck but succeeds, than wait for professors to lead me by the hand to my job interview, which I will never expect.

Después de cumplir mi castigo por ser tan tonto y haberme resbalado con un coquito, fui al policlínico de mi localidad a hacerme otra placa, para ver si me podía quitar el yeso. Para mi sorpresa tenía la mano prácticamente igual y luego de compararla con la placa anterior, la doctora me dijo que antes de enyesar la mano había que reubicar el hueso, algo que el médico no hizo. Un ortopédico pero del orto.

Tengo una perrita rubia y gorda de 13 años. Llegó a la casa recién nacida cuando yo estaba en secundaria y al año tuvo una camada de perritos preciosos. Uno de ellos se lo regalamos a mi primo y no fue hasta recién que murió siendo un grandulón de 12 años. Hace 4 le empezó a crecer un tumor mamario a la mía. No es maligno, es un tumor de grasa y al hacerle el ultrasonido el médico dijo que no habían ramificaciones y que sus órganos estaban en perfecto estado. Es perfectamente operable, pero por su edad existe una alta probabilidad de que le afecte la anestesia.
