Hello fellow Hivers!
Maria is my name. I was born and raised in Greece but I have no attachment to nationalities and borders; I feel that I belong to the Earth, to the Universe. I can feel at home at any country, and so I have. Since my very early 20's I've been travelling all over the world, strolling around the globe! For a long time I've been living by the motto "There's nowhere to go but everywhere"! I've stayed in apartments, in houses, in cabins, in caravans, in containers, in yurts, in tents, in caves, or simply having the sky as my roof. To satisfy wander-lust, travel is a must..! However every now and then I take some 'settling' time. I have spent large periods of time in isolation, and I have also lived in communities. I enjoy both solitude and good company. Nature, the great master and the holy temple of all us humans! there I find shelter, comfort, peace of mind, connection, as well as company!

Maria es mi nombre. Nací y crecí en Grecia pero no tengo ningún apego con las nacionalidades ni las fronteras; siento que soy parte de la Pacha Mama, del Universo. Me puedo sentir como en casa estando en cualquier país, y así ha sido para mí. Desde los 20 años he estado viajando por el mundo, dando vueltas por el globo! Llevo tiempo viviendo según el lema "No hay a dónde ir sino a todas partes"! Me he quedado en pisos, en casas, en cabañas, en caravanas, en contenedores, en yurtas, en tiendas de campaña, en cuevas, o simplemente teniendo el cielo como techo. Para satisfacer la lujuria de explorar, hay que viajar..! Sin embargo, de vez en cuando tomo mi tiempo de establecimiento provisional. He pasado tiempos largos en aislamiento, y también he vivido en comunidades. Disfruto ambas la soledad y la buena compañía. La Naturaleza, la gran maestra, el templo más divino para todos nosotros! Allí encuentro refugio, confort, tranquilidad, conexión, tanto como compañía!
I have a passion for adventure. I love to set out on a journey, with no specific destination, without any restrictive schedule or limiting timetables. Trust the road ahead; wherever it leads, it's where you were meant to be. Relying on one's feet is also a big part of it. Traveling with a vehicle certainly offers considerable comfort and flexibility, yet to me it feels like a car would steal away a significant part of my experience! Walking through implies not simply getting to some point, but experiencing every single place you go through, discovering hidden paths, abandoned villages, coming across fruit trees, meeting with people of all sorts.. oh the possibilities are endless! As well as irresistible; it's like a temptation for me; I'm tempted to see more, to experience more, to widen my stock of memories!
Soy apasionada por la aventura. Me encanta emprender un viaje sin tener algún destino específico, ni un programa restrictivo o un horario limitativo. Confío en el camino adelante; dónde te lleva es donde tienes que llegar. Contar con tus propios pies forma también mayor parte de la experiencia. Es cierto que viajar con vehículo ofrece comodidad y flexibilidad, sin embargo yo siento que un coche quitaría una pieza esencial de mi experiencia! Para mi recorrer un camino no solo implica llegar a un punto, sino experimentar cada lugar por el que se pasa, descubrir caminos escondidos, pueblos abandonados, toparse con árboles frutales, encontrarse con gente de todo tipo… oh, las posibilidades son infinitas! Al igual que irresistibles; es como una tentación para mí; estoy tentada a ver más, a experimentar más, a ampliar mi reserva de recuerdos!
A nomadic existence has no choice but to be independent and self-sufficient. I've acquired these qualities early on in my life - Hence my sparkling interest in homesteading and cooking, both of which are luminous sources of creativity and productivity, two main ingredients of happiness!! To me, growing your own food is one of the most creative and rewarding activities in life. It's not just about eventually getting the crop, it's so much more! It's a relationship with the plants, it's compromise, it's care, it's patience, it's devotion. And then cooking comes in the picture; even more creative possibilities arise! As with traveling, I enter the kitchen having no specific recipe or list of ingredients in mind. Like so, magic happens! There are no words for me to describe the gratification of consuming products that have been produced from my labor and dedication!
A una existencia nómada no le queda otra opción que ser independiente y autosuficiente. He obtenido ambas estás cualidades bastante temprano en mi vida, por lo tanto tengo un interés chispeante en cultivar la tierra y cocinar, ambas cosas siendo fuentes luminosas de creatividad y productividad, dos ingredientes básicos de la felicidad!! Cultivar tu propia comida es una de las actividades más creativas y gratificantes en la vida. No se trata solo de obtener finalmente la cosecha, es mucho más! Es una relación con las plantas, es compromiso, es cuidado, es paciencia, es devoción. Y luego la cocina entra en escena; surgen aún más posibilidades creativas! Al igual que con los viajes, entro en la cocina sin una receta específica o una lista de ingredientes en mente. Así, la magia sucede! No encuentro las palabras para describir la gratificación de consumir productos que han sido elaborados con mi trabajo y dedicación!
Other than activities and exploration, man also needs expression in life; I accomplish mine through poetry. A poem is a unique craft with the purpose of conveying thoughts, emotions, insights, aspirations. Words are tools, just like music notes and paint colours. All of which, used in an aesthetic manner, give birth to art. What is art's greater purpose? If you ask me -Self expression.
Other types of art that appeal to my temperament are photography, dance, painting, artistic handicraft.
Aparte de las actividades y la exploración, el hombre también necesita expresión en la vida; Yo la consigo a través de la poesía. Un poema es una artesanía única con el propósito de transmitir pensamientos, emociones, percepciones, aspiraciones. Las palabras son herramientas, al igual que las notas musicales y los colores de pintura. Todos los cuales utilizados de manera estética dan como resultado la creación de arte. ¿Cuál es el propósito mayor del arte? Si me preguntas a mi -La expresión propia.
Otros tipos de arte que atraen a mi temperamento son la fotografía, la danza, la pintura, la artesanía artística.
As an epilogue for my dear readers, I quote Christopher McCandless from my absolute favorite movie:
"You are wrong if you think joy emanates only or principally from human relationships. God has placed it all around us. It is in everything and anything we might experience. We just have to have the courage to turn against our habitual lifestyle and engage in unconventional living." In other words, as Freddie so eloquently suggested, let's all break free!
