I began my pre-school studies in El Tigre, Anzoátegui state, at that time they were called "casas cunas" (cradle homes), because from there they went to the first grade of elementary school. I played with many children, shared and enjoyed my school in the most pleasant way possible.

During the long awaited vacation time we were under the care of my grandmother in El Tigre, who was affectionately known as "Maria Chiquita" since my mother was working hard to acquire a house in San Felix, while we enjoyed ourselves with my uncles and aunts, some contemporaries, others not. My grandmother had a bush of jobo, a very divine and acidic fruit, but delicious; and there we spent almost noon eating jobo, making jokes, and enjoying our well-deserved vacations, making little houses and clay figures. At the end of the vacations, my mother traveled from San Felix to Tigre to be able to return to classes, while my mother was in the housing procedures, we lived in the house of my godmother, Ana de Belmonte, where we had the joy of enjoying our stay for a year. One day, being inspired by my godmother's daughter, Isis Belmonte, she told my mother that in the Urbanization La Llovizna they were delivering houses through the old National Housing Institute.

My mother spoke to the mobile offices of INAVI and said that she did not own a house, that she was a single mother with daughters, since at that time it was considered when one did not own a house, and one was assigned to her. To our joy, 2 weeks later my mother was assigned our long awaited home, a 2 bedroom house, it had a beautiful living room, dining room, service area and a good patio, where my sister and I could do our tremendous things, it was a small house, but for us it was our kingdom, to enjoy and do what we wanted without disturbing others, and so we could enjoy our childhood.

My mother was lucky enough to find a position as a worker in the Ministry of Education, since that gave us a stable livelihood for all of us. For her comfort and for our protection and care, she managed to enroll my sister Aida and me in a school called Francisco Conde, in the aforementioned locality. In that school, we studied until the third grade of primary school, since it was very far from our home, we were withdrawn and taken to the "Escuela Básica Nacional UD-145" and we began to study third grade until sixth grade of primary school, changes that brought me many challenges and blessings, since it was close to our home, that meant that we could sleep a little more, walk to class, after school, arrive home earlier; we studied in the morning shift, much cooler in terms of climate. As for the challenges, there were 2, the first was that after school, I had to stay at school to help my mother clean the assigned areas, and we left at 1 pm with a lot of hunger, but with a great satisfaction of having helped my mother in her daily chores. Despite my young age, we did it incompletely, but what mattered was the intention. The second was that to help her economically, she made delicious ice cream cups, and had to accompany my sister to sell the ice cream in the afternoon at school, it gave us some pain and a lot of laziness, but in the end we managed to understand that it was for the benefit of the three of us. I remember that on one occasion, my sister's teacher and mine, my mother sent us to get the ice cream to sell it so we could have the afternoon free, when we got to school, we managed to sell them all, since the weather was pressing for it.

When we managed to sell everything, she told us to go home to do the housework, we began to cry to stay with her, but she insisted that we had to go, saying: "I'm going to do the housework at home! And the teachers and coworkers told her: "Leave us alone, don't send us back, something could happen to us, and then we would cry," and, listening to her coworkers, we stayed with her. My sister and I studied together, since she had missed a year of school. On another occasion, the teacher did not go to school again, and she had bought us a chopper bike, we were carrying the ice cream in an anime ice cream box with a capacity for 100 ice creams and it turned out that when we were more than half way there, the bike overturned and we dropped the ice cream, we thought it was "our end" because we knew that our mother would punish us very severely for having done that. We managed to save at least 80 ice creams, which had not broken the glass, had not filled with dirt or anything and thus recover part of the investment of ice cream.

nosotras 3.jpg

y poder conseguir empleos bien remunerados.

This is how my childhood went, helping my mother from a very young age, to understand the value of the work and effort she made to give everything to my sister and me, I learned to appreciate her effort, her love and her dedication to me. Knowing that everything she did was to help us become good women. I began to study the seventh grade of high school, in the National Basic Cycle School "Luis Tovar", it was somewhat distant from our home and I had to walk, taking 2 hours to get there and 2 hours to return, when my mother had enough money for the ticket, she gave us and it was much more comfortable. I studied in that high school, until the eighth grade, where it was far away, I was happy because they moved it half a block from my house, I would no longer have to walk those 2 hours so tiring, I continued my studies until the ninth grade of high school, was when I told my mother that I did not want to continue studying more, but I did not stay without doing anything, and I did several courses at the "National Institute of Educational Training (INCE)" and private academies, which were: typing, commercial and computerized secretarial, accounting, being able to perform them very satisfactorily.

I was able to get well paid jobs. I started working in a law firm at the age of 17, which was called "Gianncane Antonucci", as a secretary and after 4 years, I worked as an assistant of the firm, directly with the owner of the firm, I did secretarial work, made coffee, and little by little I learned everything concerning the world of lawyers, and I could know the laws and legal documents that are used for procedures, such as: letter of single status, limited powers of attorney, transcription of documents, keeping the day's agenda, making appointments with clients. On many occasions, I had to go to the courts to take those documents, to the notary, to the main and subaltern registry. I managed to learn a lot about the legal world, so I was passionate about it and I had the desire to become a great lawyer and have my own law firm. When I retired I managed to get other jobs, I worked in an optician's office, as a data transcriptionist.

As a data transcriber, learning about lenses, corrective, progressive, sun, contact lenses, formulas and cosmetics. I lasted 3 years of my life, in that beautiful job, the most important thing is everything you learn there, in each of the jobs I had, with the daily challenges that you manage to pass in those jobs, with the satisfaction of the knowledge that you acquire and do it in the right way, leaving satisfied customers and bosses to give me their confidence to perform them. Thanks to God for giving me the opportunity to learn from each one of them and to be the pillar for my family, and to be able to give back to my mother, part of the effort she made with my sister and me to get us ahead.
