This is a collection of travel destinations in the country of Switzerland. We visited these spots over the course of two vacations in the years of 2020 and 2021. I've separated the trips and included our driving route to give the reader an idea of how we travelled the country. To see the maps and proper breakdown of the trips you will have to view the article as a post rather than a collection.
Trip One (2020)
Trip one was a jam packed, whirly wind tour of the country with several amazing destinations along the way. It took place over 5 nights and 6 days back in August of 2020. Though we were pretty much on the move the entire time, the trip didn't really feel that rushed to us since most of the cities that we stayed in were quite close together and were often broken up by a stop along the way, usually no more than an hours drive from the previous destination.
We only spent one night in each location except for Interlaken (two nights), but each town or city lead to the next so we felt as if we were able to see a lot in a very short period of time without it being stressful.
Destinations for trip one were as follows:
- Day one: Lausanne and Montreaux
- Day two: Guyere and Bern
- Day three: Thun and Interlaken (hiking Harder Kulm)
- Day four: Hiking Aare Gorge, and towns of Lauterbrunnen and Grindelwald
- Day five: Mount Pilatus and Lucerne
- Day six: Basel

Trip Two (2021)
Trip two took place in August of 2021 over the course of seven days and nights. It was a little more challenging of a trip because the destinations were much further apart from each other. Though we stayed for two nights in each major location, the trip still felt a bit rushed and stressful. Many of the towns and cities that we stayed in were two or even three hours apart so we often felt like we spent more time in our vehicle than at the actual vacation spot.
Though trip two had some amazing experiences for us, if I had to rank the vacations, I would say that hands down the first trip was better. It had a little bit of everything - lakes, mountains, towns and cities and also had a much better travel flow overall.

- Day two: Chur and the Appenzell District
- Day three: Schafler Ridge Hike
- Day four: Lugano and Locarno
- Day five: Lavertezzo and Corippo

Yeah I wasn't sure how it would turn out and was a bit confused when most of the post was hidden when I viewed it after it was published. Then I figured out the "view as post" and "view as collection" buttons lol. I still do t know what it defaults to and how others see it haha.
But thanks for the suggestion. I think I'm going to try and do one per week to consolidate the different countries weve been to or regions of a particular country.
I have noticed that they definitely don't get as much views as the other posts and not sure why that it.
Yeah I think in general people don't open up links in posts, unless they are particularly interested in the topic. I don't expect people to open the ones in mine but maybe it would be helpful for someone planning a vacation or something.
The fact that it hides the additional photos and crams all the words together when it's in "view as a collectjon" mode probably doesn't help lol.
I like both of your itineraries, though I'd suggest adding Säntis peak near Appenzell, and maybe skipping Chur, substituting something like Guarda village for the authentic Grisons flair. Adding the Swiss national park in Grisons would be nice too if you have the time.
I'll keep those spots in mind if we ever go back. I agree that Chur isn't worth the trip. It was quite a ways out if the way for us and there was nothing special about it for us.
