A soft crooning seems to curl about the roots and steppes.
Something in it, yearning, baleful, misplaced...
2
It curls about ankle, calf and thigh, as bent over and peering round a tree
Just there, yonder, past a step and another,
Wends o'er gnoll , and into a lee
As with a duck and a scramble, the croon starts to smother
2
In a warm embrace that at once harks of ones mother, and of ones sister
Musing through work, or unbeknownst, lost to a wood
The ease makes it easy as darkness engulfs a stoop and a squeeze
As bidden, feet follow the lead.
5
Rock slides on rock and moss over clay,
Underfoot the earth slopes away,
Bumping and scraping, the warbling is jarred
And in darkness & delirium a breathiness rises
Cut short!
Mid breath, mid kneel, mid beat and mid night
"There you are dearie, why don't you come nearie"
6
Feet do protest, but fingers draw forward
As walls briefly glitter with a curious glow
And crouched before a small pile of bones
A cold pat on the head as the form is frozen, and from beyond and above
"Whither and dither, worthy, wealthy, woeful and wretched"
"Which"
Fingers snap and blinding streaks lance, arc, converge.
5
Instinct surges, hand intercepts face, searing impact sprawls, and with a surge, broken bone is as good as a dagger in hand.
The chuckle disarms, as the glow comes again, and from the perch a lumious object is dropped, stopped, examined
19
"Fates strength lingers within! So why not try it! What was it again?"
14
As hurtling, that bone swings again, puncturing cloth and fine skin!
16
Effort draws oath and oath keeps oath flowing, as something slams home that hadn't resided before.
With a rasp and a cackle the wretch flashes back, leaving silvery dagger and a hex on the air.
At once the world tips, and earth draws, regurgitates and sunlight slams as
YOU
pick yourself up off the forest floor with the words of a witch ringing, a fading singing...
"Curse and blade steep your fate, worlds at your feet, doubt not and unleash your purpose"
