Why am I combining a travel post about Beresheet Hotel in the Negev Desert and my @v4vapp on Hive?

Have you used v4v.app? Write about it!

If you've used @v4vapp, how about writing about what you used if for and posting in the Value 4 Value community. I'd love to hear your stories and it may give others some ideas on how to use Hive via Lightning in many more ways.

Back story travel pics to follow

This weekend I took my wife away for a trip to the desert here in Israel for her birthday. That might sound like a bit of a strange thing to do, but there's a beautiful hotel here in Israel called "Beresheet" which is in the Negev desert. It sits on the edge of a gigantic crater though this was formed by geological uplift and erosion rather than a meteor or a volcano. The name Beresheet is from the first words of the bible: "In the beginning".

But I'm only telling you this to say I travelled down there with only my iPhone. I had an aging MacBook pro but that died on me in August (pretty sure the internal power supply chip has blown as I heard it pop during startup). I only had my phone to run v4v.app.

Almost everything ran smoothly however one transaction sending Lightning to HBD stalled for someone, after I checked with him, he said it was fine for me to properly diagnose and fix when I got home on Saturday night which I did.

It also turns out that some more little glitches occurred in the data centre this morning which needed me to restart a few things, that's all done.

All this is to say that despite my current proposal starting, I'm still not funded and could use some more votes. If you've already voted, perhaps help ask anybody else you know on Hive if they'd like to help vote for this proposal.

Hence the subject of this post and my ask: if you've used @v4vapp, how about writing about what you used if for and posting in the Value 4 Value community. I'd love to hear your stories and it may give others some ideas on how to use Hive via Lightning in many more ways.

Please tag @v4vapp and @brianoflondon if you wish.

And now a few photos

Many of the rooms have a private pool.... it's mostly private, but you do get visits from the ibex which roam the grounds. And don't leave your room patio door open, they'll happily come in.

The view from the room

Vertical photos don't work in this place. Our room is just out of sight on the left: one of those little building you can just see.

The crater and the road to Eilat

Standing on the edge of this crater before 9am was the first time in my life I've heard and been conscious of the actual sound of wind passing over the wings of sparrows. They weren't flapping their wings, and the flew below us and there was a "wooshing" sound as 5 or 6 birds passed by. The quietness of the desert makes you realise how terrible noise pollution in our world is. I don't have any pictures of stars (because iPhones don't do justice to astronomical photography) but the night sky also looked much more the way it should.

The crater

The Hotel

The food was excellent though if I have to nit pick, it's that Shabbat restrictions on Friday night slightly limited what could be served. Thursday night's food was better but not by much.

We used the Spa for a massage: not really my thing but it was pretty good I think, my wife liked hers so that's what really matters.

The hotel bar is large and spacious and prepared a good local take on a Whiskey Sour (with a hint of almond).

In the middle of December, it was cold at night but by the time the sun was up it was warm enough to sit in our gently heated pool outside our room.

The rooms are all private self standing buildings so there is a bit of a walk from many of them back to the lobby and central facilities. We walked because it was just so beautiful but you can all for a golf cart if you wish.

Just be warned... this place is not cheap, but giving my wife a treat on her birthday is priceless.

I hope you enjoyed this little departure from my usual technical talk and please feel free to post about v4v.app if you've used it!

Amazing photos and I think it has been more than 15 years since I traveled to Israel and visited it for about 2 weeks. It is amazing how a nation can thrive in such conditions as the salted sea and arid terrains and push the limits of technology (desalinization machines) in order to transform and even terraform it all. All my respect for innovating, all humanity could learn from that.

Nice to see you have a life outside of being a Hive dev and Crypto Class Action support.
I visited Beeresheet years ago when it first opened.

It is indeed lovely.

The hotel must be a very lovely place to visit and I wonder how the atmosphere will be like when visiting.

The desert here in Israel looks incredible. And that the food is tasty, makes the visit more enjoyable !

The hotel seems like a very lovely place to visit with the amazing view shared but still wondering how costly it might be to spend sometime there.

This weekend I took my wife away for a trip to the desert here in Israel for her birthday.

When will you go back to pick her up? 😂

Just kidding... hehehe... The photos look awesome! You should take some of the hotel interiors, but seeing that pool, it probably looks great...

Lots of photos online of the interior. The desert is what really interests me.

Beautiful pictures! 💯

The view looks so beautiful

Sorry I missed this one :/

What a place... 👀

Really beautiful out there!

Hope you guys had a good celebration... of life. It's important.

You never stop the work, huh? :)

I still need to learn more about the moving and grooving of the finance thing. I'll follow along and keep chipping away at it.

Happy NY. 💥
