Si bien es cierto nunca sera tarea fácil descifrar lo que le pasa a un niño cuando se encuentra enfermo ya que ellos no saben decir exactamente lo que en su cuerpo esta sucediendo, en caso de dolores no son capaces de reflejar de manera clara el sitio en especifico, nosotros los médicos tenemos que realizar maniobras que nos permitan acercarnos a un diagnostico preciso y en algunos casos podemos pasar largos ratos tratando de ser claros en lo que estamos pensando y a veces se nos complican un poco las cosas.
Es en esos momentos donde comienza una gran angustia tanto de familiares, como del personal de salud pero a fin de cuentas en mi particular intento dar lo mejor de mi para así transmitir la tranquilidad y frialdad que se necesita para resolver cierto casos.
En una guardia de 24 Horas en este hospital (Dr. Jesús Garcia Coello) en un día atiendo aproximadamente entre 40 y 60 emergencias es un en algunos dias llegan menos casos pero la mayoría de veces se ubican dentro de ese rango, Fiebre, tos, diarrea, vómitos, parásitos, traumatismos, intoxicaciones son diagnósticos que se ven muy a menudo, al momento de que uno de estos chiquelos pasa por la puerta del hospital y entra a la emergencia sienten un gran miedo y no es fácil abordarlos ya que muy pocos colaboran y se dejan examinar.
hay que ser muy carismáticos y tener buenas ideas con las cuales puedas ganarte su cariño ya que de lo contrario no se pudiese hacer un diagnostico preciso y seria un grave error indicar algún tratamiento que no sea especifico con la clínica del paciente tan solo por no realizar un buen examen físico, se debe tener mucha paciencia y cariño a estos niños para dedicarles lo mejor.
Yo he tenido que lidear con muchas cosas hasta me han llenado de vomito y sigo encima de ellos tratando de curarlos cada vez que voy, es mi trabajo y es lo que amo sin duda alguna.
A veces es muy desesperante el ver niños muy descuidados por sus padres ya que los traen al mundo y no les dan el cariño que ellos se merecen, los tratan como si fuesen un juguete y un niño mal tratado es difícil de hacer que mejores de manera rápida y precisa, pudiera comentar miles de casos en los que he observado esas cosas pero el dia de hoy me dedicare a uno muy puntual.
El día miércoles 23/02/22 estuve de guardia las 24 horas del día y aproximadamente a las 10AM llega una chica como de unos 27 años de edad llorando porque trae a su bebe de 5 meses muy débil y casi desmayado, de una vez salgo corriendo hacia el área de trauma-shock con el niño entre mis brazos, pido ayuda de todo mi equipo de salud, licenciadas en enfermería para que rápidamente coloquen oxigeno y solución fisiológica, en ese momento mi desesperación era por intentar estabilizar los signos vitales de esa criatura que no tiene la culpa de tener unos padres con muy poca conciencia.
Me dio satisfacción haber logrado mantener con vida a ese niño en el momento que pude atenderlo pero sabia las condiciones en las cuales se encontraba y de inmediato pedí interconsulta con unidad de cuidados intensivos quien rápidamente salio y lastimosamente tuvieron que llevarlo a esa área para entubarlo y realizar todos los procedimientos que merite pero su vida corría mucho peligro.
Luego realizando el interrogatorio a su mama sobre lo que había pasado y porque se encontraba en esas condiciones nos comenta que le dio algún guarapo de una planta famosa dentro de la localidad (Anis estrellado) y eso es totalmente grave ya que los bebes no tienen un sistema totalmente desarrollado para absorber eso y crean intoxicaciones por plantas o intoxicación fitogena.
los padres no tienen ni un poquito de conciencia al momento de hacer esas cosas y llevan a su hijo cuando lo tienen en las peores condiciones que puedan llegar al hospital, en ese momento sentía tanta impotencia y lo único que quería era terminar el interrogatorio y orar porque nuestro paciente se salvara.
30 minutos después casi muere ya que entro en un paro cardíaco debido a sus muy bajos niveles de potasio y deshidratación severa por suerte se logro una reanimación con medicamentos a tiempo y pudo ser salvado, actualmente aun sigue en UCI luchando entre la vida y la muerte ojala que Diosito coloque su manto sobre el y no le pase nada grave, a sus padres que les sirva de experiencia y puedan aprender de ese grave error que casi les ha costado la vida de su hijo.
¿Por qué cuento esa larga historia?
Uno de los pilares principales en la pediatría es la consulta a tiempo!! Y si se dan cuenta al inicio del post hay un niño muy lindo y sonriente algo muy difícil de lograr, el llego molesto al área de emergencias pero en ese momento debo poner en practica mi experiencia y carisma, realizaba juegos con el, le mostraba mi gorrito para que se distrajera mientras lo examinara, de un momento a otro este niño estaba muy bien y se sentía mejor que cuando llego.
Habia logrado bajarle su alta fiebre y ademas parar la gran cantidad de vómitos que había realizado en el día, muchos me preguntaban como había hecho para que se tomara una foto conmigo y la respuesta hacia ello es cariño y dedicación, simplemente hago lo mejor que puedo y a todos los veo como mis pequeños amiguitos para así poder crear un lindo lazo en el cual me pueda ganar su confianza y me permitan trabajar de la mejor manera.
Para finalizar quiero dejar un reflexión para quienes son padres y es que cuiden a sus niños como a nadie mas, son una vida muy preciada y valiosa, si ya tuviste tu vida da una calidad de vida a los mas pequeños de la cosas, realiza tus consultas a tiempo para que no se deterioren

It is in those moments where a great anguish begins for both family members and health personnel, but at the end of the day I try to do my best to transmit the tranquility and coolness that is needed to solve certain cases.
In a 24-hour guard in this hospital (Dr. Jesus Garcia Coello) in a day I attend approximately between 40 and 60 emergencies, in some days there are fewer cases but most of the time they fall within that range. Fever, cough, diarrhea, vomiting, parasites, trauma, poisoning are diagnoses that are seen very often, when one of these kids passes through the hospital door and enters the emergency room they feel a great fear and it is not easy to approach them because very few collaborate and let themselves be examined.
You have to be very charismatic and have good ideas with which you can win their affection because otherwise you could not make an accurate diagnosis and it would be a serious mistake to indicate a treatment that is not specific to the patient's clinical condition just for not performing a good physical examination, you must have a lot of patience and affection for these children to dedicate the best to them.
I have had to deal with many things that have even filled me with vomit and I am still on top of them trying to cure them every time I go, it is my job and it is what I love without a doubt.
Sometimes it is very desperate to see children very neglected by their parents because they bring them into the world and do not give them the love they deserve, they treat them as if they were a toy and a poorly treated child is difficult to make them improve quickly and accurately, I could comment on thousands of cases in which I have observed these things but today I will focus on a very specific one.
On Wednesday 02/23/22 I was on duty 24 hours a day and at approximately 10AM a girl about 27 years old arrives crying because she brings her 5 month old baby very weak and almost fainted, at once I run to the trauma-shock area with the child in my arms, I ask for help from all my health team, nursing graduates to quickly place oxygen and physiological solution, at that moment my desperation was to try to stabilize the vital signs of this child who is not to blame for having parents with very little conscience.
I was pleased to have managed to keep that child alive at the time I was able to attend him but I knew the conditions in which he was and immediately requested a consultation with the intensive care unit who quickly came out and unfortunately had to take him to that area to intubate him and perform all the procedures that he deserved but his life was in great danger.
After questioning her mother about what had happened and why she was in that condition, she told us that she gave her some guarapo of a famous plant in the locality (star anise) and that is totally serious because babies do not have a fully developed system to absorb it and create plant intoxication or phytogenic intoxication.
Parents don't have a bit of conscience when they do these things and take their child to the hospital when they have him in the worst conditions they can get to the hospital, at that moment I felt so helpless and the only thing I wanted was to finish the interrogation and pray that our patient would be saved.
30 minutes later he almost died because he went into cardiac arrest due to his very low potassium levels and severe dehydration, luckily he was resuscitated with medication in time and could be saved, now he is still in ICU fighting between life and death, hopefully God will place his mantle over him and nothing serious will happen to him, may his parents learn from this serious mistake that almost cost them the life of their son.
¿Why do I tell that long story?*
One of the main pillars in pediatrics is the timely consultation! And if you notice at the beginning of the post there is a very cute and smiling child, something very difficult to achieve, he arrived upset to the emergency area but at that moment I had to put into practice my experience and charisma, I played games with him, I showed him my hat to distract him while I examined him, from one moment to another this child was very well and felt better than when he arrived.
I had managed to lower his high fever and also stop the large amount of vomiting he had done during the day, many people asked me how I had managed to get him to take a picture with me and the answer to that is affection and dedication, I just do my best and I see them all as my little friends so I can create a nice bond in which I can earn their trust and allow me to work in the best way.
Finally I want to leave a reflection for those who are parents and that is to take care of their children like no one else, they are a very precious and valuable life, if you already had your life gives a quality of life to the smallest of things, make your consultations on time so they do not deteriorate.
