No sé si es un don, una virtud o quizás una adaptación al medio producto de la miopía, tal vez sea un karma que me toca sufrir a causa de las acciones en vidas pasadas.
Cualquiera podría ser la respuesta; pero al final del camino la realidad, mi realidad, es qué me agrade o no (y la mayoría de las veces no me agrada), aun cuando trate de ignorarlo o bloquearlo, puedo ver más allá de lo concreto, aquello que por lógica no se puede ver, quizás porque a falta de una visión 20/20 me ha tocado aprender a ver con los “ojos del alma”.
Se dice que los ojos son “el espejo del alma”; un espejo solo refleja lo que tiene al frente y yo veo más allá, mucho más.
En todo caso mi mirada traspasa el espejo.
También suele decirse que los ojos son “las ventanas del alma”. Una ventana no solo te permite ver hacia fuera, también puedes abrirla y dejar salir lo que quieras del mismo modo que puede entrar.
El hecho es que a pesar de esta visión desgastada y cansada, mis ojos no solo “ven” también pueden palpar, intuir, traspasar, ir más allá de lo físico, de lo concreto, de la materia.
Créanme, no es fácil ver el verdadero rostro, la verdadera esencia, todo aquello que los demás desean ocultar o enmascarar; es como ver seres “desnudos” mientras el resto los ve vestidos.
Ver risas donde se oculta una lágrima, bondad en un ser en realidad malévolo, ver oscuridad a pesar de la luz. No sé si puedan comprender lo que trato de explicarles, pero les aseguró que si pudieran verme con los ojos del alma como yo, lo harían…
Si miramos la realidad, desde la fría razón, tal vez no exista un solo hombre sobre la tierra que pueda ser declarado inocente. Pero si apreciamos a los demás, desde lo profundo de nuestro ser, desde los sentimientos de amor, compasión y perdón, nuestros ojos se encontrarán con la belleza que está detrás de la 'corteza de apatía' que cubre el corazón del ser humano. To see beyond the visible, to go beyond the gaze, to observe not only with the eyes but with all the senses, including the much denied sixth sense. Isn't it enough with the other five?

Any could be the answer; but at the end of the road the reality, my reality, is what I like or not (and most of the time I do not like it), even when I try to ignore it or block it, I can see beyond the concrete, that which by logic cannot be seen, perhaps because in the absence of a 20/20 vision I have had to learn to see with the "eyes of the soul".
It is said that the eyes are "the mirror of the soul"; a mirror only reflects what is in front of it and I see beyond, much more.
In any case, my gaze goes beyond the mirror. It is also often said that the eyes are "the windows of the soul".
A window not only allows you to see out, you can also open it and let out whatever you want, just as you can let in.
The fact is that in spite of this worn and tired vision, my eyes not only "see" but can also feel, intuit, penetrate, go beyond the physical, beyond the concrete, beyond matter.
Believe me, it is not easy to see the true face, the true essence, everything that others wish to hide or mask; it is like seeing "naked" beings while the rest see them dressed.
To see laughter where a tear is hidden, goodness in a being that is actually malevolent, to see darkness in spite of the light. I don't know if you can understand what I am trying to explain, but I assure you that if you could see me with the eyes of the soul as I do, you would....
If we look at reality, from cold reason, there may not be a single man on earth who can be declared innocent. But if we appreciate others, from the depths of our being, from the feelings of love, compassion and forgiveness, our eyes will meet the beauty that lies behind the 'crust of apathy' that covers the heart of the human being.
