I remembered some Korean drama movies I watched long ago. I don't know why I always feel connected watching their historical movies so much. Out of my love for movies, I always get to watch some that are based on true-life occurrences. Let me say that most of the time, I prefer watching biographical dramas of some of their past heroes.
I watched Jang Young-Sil. The movie was about astronomy, the science of the world of time. It got me thinking about how all of these scientists in the past must have tried so hard to discover most of the theories we have today.
In the former era before the scientist Jang was born, there was nothing like clocks. All they did to calculate the time was via sun and shadows. But the scientist tried all he could to calculate the time through his interest in astronomy. He was able to get the meaning of each star, the revolution between the moon and the sun and through that, he invented a big pendulum clock that calculated the time in hours and days.
Astronomy is an interesting aspect of life for those who know its value. I appreciate the astronomers for their efforts.
Also watching all of these historical movies got me familiar with Zodiac signs. I am not so sure about the fact that it's the true Zodiac calculation they are working on within the movie. But I realized they calculated their year of birth using those signs.
It might be as accurate as the calendars we use nowadays. They will calculate their years of birth based on some time and major events happening during that period. There are times I will hear them say a child born in the Year of the Snake and Hour of the Pigs. I couldn’t understand that earlier, not until I read about Zodiac signs and how they are used in astronomy.
When I checked my birth date on the Zodiac calendar I realized I was born in the time of the Bull. 😂. I don't know if it has some meaning entangled with all of these signs. But I knew it would have some meaning to them when it was in use.
The last movie I watched recently even opened my eyes to how much the people of the past were blinded and scammed by the knowledge of astronomy. The movie titled The Great Queen Seondeok where the priests were to be in charge of zodiac signs and the knowledge of astronomical occurrence.
People of that time never knew when the solar eclipse and the lunar eclipse were bound to happen. So since the knowledge was unveiled to the priests only then was used as a source of power for them. Only priests can calculate what time of the year the solar eclipse will occur, only they can perfectly calculate when the rainfall will begin and when there shall come a time of drought.
All of this knowledge came to light and the people finally got to build interest in astronomical knowledge. This has been one of the best ways to aid existence on earth. We can tell how long a thing has been in existence, we can calculate when it will happen to rain and the season of the year too. All of these are one of the importance of astronomy.

Good point
Correct
One thing I like with historical K-drama is that they always hold truthful tales of the past even when fiction ridden. I do remember seeing a K-drama that they people believed the eclipse was the gods way of punishing them and they would bring all sorts of sacrifices to the temple to appease them. These were for the priests of course and the old fools would put on a show crying and playing gongs for hours to appease the gods.
Took a young girl who was always interested in the skies to figure it out. It was interesting how she stood to advice the king (a crime back then that could cost you your life) but it worked.
