Before I came into blogging, I have always loved and searched the internet about how I could become a blogger. I followed Lynda Ikeji and enjoyed reading from her blog.
When finally I found a way to start blogging, I grabbed it with two hands. Although I am somehow lazy now, but writing is one of my hobby. Why won't I love writing when I am a teacher, writing is one of my job descriptions, haha.
So, when I came into blogging, I did not only enjoyed writing, I enjoyed the way of life. Everywhere I went, I looked for what to form an article or a story.
At a point, I made pliers with my money and distributed to people, to explain more to them what the blogging platform was about. Here I am with so many plier I made, when the fire was still burning very brightly.
I went into the street to distribute the pliers, here I am in one bet Naija shop, introducing a customer to blogging
As time went by, I started getting rewards for my labour. On the row, I onboarded my eldest brother, he still has his account @webclick and called recently to say he would like to get back on hive. I hope so.
I also onboarded my immediate younger sister, here we are in this image when I was explaining how it works to her.
I onboarded my youngest brother, and then two friends of mine joined. I can't remember their account details now. I also onboarded a teaching practice student, his account is @leonard17 . He was in my School having his teaching practice training. He took it seriously when he was with me, but now, I am not sure he is still blogging. There were others who came same time with him, hre I am talking with more people about hive, but these ones didn't register.
All of these people I mentioned stopped blogging before six months of coming on board. My eldest brother stayed longer than all of them, yet he didn't stay up to one year.
Blogging on hive should come with interest. Many came in with the wrong motive. Some wanted instant money, but when they found that their articles were not getting much views and upvotes, they ran back.
Some too love to write more but on the condition that for every one they wrote, once the payout is released every seven days, they would cash it out. I tried to help them see that it doesn't work like that. They need to build their hive power so that their upvotes on posts would make sense and they too couldn't earn better curation. I would always sing to them
Keep on dishing out great contents, be consistent, socialize, upvote people, comment meaningfully on their blogs, follow people, follow me haha, engage in contests , you will see how those who tried to discourage you or wonder what you are doing, writing articles will marvel at your success and change their "why are you doing this" to "how did you do it".
Yet my advices fell on deaf ears.
THEN CAME MY DAUGHTER, @temi-madelles.
She has always loved to come onboard and has asked severally when I think she can be of age to come. Finally, she was onboarded about one month ago or so.
She made her introduction post was impressed at the warm reception she had. She is an art student and always love writing stories. She has different books she has completed with stories. So I thought she would enjoy writing on hive. Nevertheless, I notice that she has started developing cold feet too.
She wrote a second post though but I noticed that she enjoys reading articles from others. First I want to believe she is lazy jn typing out what she has written. Secondly, she lives writing stories with chapters. I told her that she can write, summarize and end a story in one post, rather than make her audience to read some chapters and miss some. Who knows if that's the challenge she is having right now.
However, When I curate for dreemport, or read articles and laugh, she rushed down to read with me. And when I write, she wants to read my comment session to know what my readers said about my post. She still has the interest anyways.
She came in with all excitement as she watched her reputation move from 25 to 50 and so on. She calls herself level 25 officer, level 50 officer. For now, the major challenge I see that she has is that she hasn't been granted full access to her phone and the Internet, especially now that Schools have resumed.
All the same, her case is something I believe I can handle. I can encourage her further by giving her some prompts in some community and ask her to write on them and guide her. I don't want to blackmail her that I would not give her money any more unless she takes writing seriously. But honestly, sometimes I am tempted to say so, because of the way other guys whom I onboarded turned out.
When in their presence, I always "play" with my phone, replying comments. So they are always unhappy that I don't give them all the attention I should. But when I told them what hive or blogging was about, they are thrilled. They get more interested when they learn that they can even earn from it. They jump right in but in just a little while, they relapse.
I would say I haven't had a good experience onboarding people, that's why I stopped. But for my child, I hope to continue to work on her until she forms a longing for blogging. She enjoys writing on paper. But I think blogging is a different thing for her, she is still unaware of the benefits and I haven't convinced her much especially when with another corner of my mouth, I encourage her to be studious and focused in her academics.
I hope that my eldest brother who called to say he wants to get back, would actually get back and get serious with it this time.
Thanks @hive-naija for the prompt, it was nice participating in this.
Thanks guys for stopping by, I appreciate your presence and support.

The idea of distributing flyers is so great and you have done well
Thank you. I appreciate your visit and kind words
Wow, going as far as making fliers to promote Hive is an incredible thing to do and it tells how much you have got the platform interest at heart.
Honestly, you have done a lot because I counted about four names if I am not mistaken.
Every little awareness we create will definitely go a long way for us all because we are a Hive, without us it would just be a platform.
We try to go out best, but it is also good to see that the best is good enough. Like I said, most of the people I brought into blogging when I had the burning zeal, they have gone cold. I will continue to try my best and continue to promote hive, it's a new normal every writer should come and experience 😅. Thanks for stopping by

Making fliers to distribute is no easy job, and though the people onboarded didn't stay long, you did your best coaching them all.
Thanks for sharing this.

There are a lot of people that joined Hive because they really want to blog. Sometimes life gets in the way and they can only get back in when they have dealt with the issues that took away their attention. It happened to me, you know... hehehe, but I am back. I came in from #dreemport

Even if the people you onboarded didn't remain long, you did your best to coach them all, and creating flyers to distribute is not a simple task. #dreemerforlife
Yes, it wasn't really easy but I was glad to do it. Thanks
Promoting and advertising hive through the use of flyers that is a great idea. We have all experienced this when it comes to bringing people onboard. Most of them just want a platform that pays easy money and hive is nothing like that. If you want to earn big time on hive you will have to put in the work that is something most people have failed to understand.
I have also bring about 26 people on board and only a few of them are available right now.
And for your daughter I would suggest that you should just keep encouraging her without applying force because at the long run it is her determination that make assist her in having a successful career on hive.

I agree perfectly on your advise regarding my daughter, thanks. I also appreciate your comments on those we onboard, really many come in with the wrong intentions but hive is a place where hard work pays. Thanks again
I find it's quite challenging for some of the younger generation to find the time when they have to balance school commitments, exams etc. Hopefully, your daughter will get into it more fully once her tertiary studies are completed. You are doing a wonderful job, Adore 💗 !LUV !ALIVE !PIZZA
