LET'S TALK 2GO, BBM, WAPDAM AND MIDNIGHT PLANS // TECH TRENDS OF TIME PAST

in Hive Naijayesterday

Seeing this prompt took me back to when I had the Nokia C2. It was one of the best phones that I used. Till this day, I still like it and maybe would still have it but for my young cousin who decided she had to give it a bath hence damaging the phone.

Back then, when with 10mb, you could download so many games and movies and songs. I mean, with 10mb, you fit fill up your 4gb memory card. Eish! I totally forgot that we used memory cards then. These days, our phones come with larger storage spaces. I no go lie, but e de do me like say that our 2gb, 3gb, 4gb and even 8gb de contain a lot pass our phones with the big storage. How did we even get here that a 64gb phone barely takes in a couple of videos before it starts to lag. Because, then, your 4gb go de filled with too many movies and space go still de plenty.

Back then, 100mb lasted longer than 3GB of today. If you buy 500mb sef, you be chief. People did not buy it so much then. It wasn't so much of a thing as the normal 'small' bundles did a lot. I was the champion of downloading sites as wapdam and waptrick. Nothing wey you no go find for these sites. And then, if you do midnight plan, I think it was 50mb for 10naira, you go just de download like fool. Data no go finish until night plan time elapse.

Those were the days of midnight calls. My big cousin who stayed with us back then no de allow person sleep well for night. Once it was 12am, he would go on a calling spree, speaking in a voice that was mellow that it surprised me that it was his. And that midnight plan lasted long hours. With glo 100naira, you go turn talkative.

Then came the craze for the badoo, eskimi, 2go, and other apps. 2go took the lead. Do you think that people are obsessed over the applications of today? If only you had seen how 2go made people foolish, do foolish things, and even miss their ways.

2go was a joy giver. Once you log in, you will forget yourself and get lost in it. Then my high school classmates, mostly the guys, talked about the app every single time. And if you were on any of the higher levels, you felt like you had made it in life. If you were on the novice or amateur levels, you would be like JJC. They were always on about their stars.

Ah! The chat rooms. 2go had different chatrooms, but one of the most popular then was the 'flirt zone.'' As the name suggests, you should know what it's about. Na from here many people children spoil cause the kind of things that went on there were ehn. How can I forget the 'xup rummies' hreetings and the weird(cool then) usernames like 'mxta prinx' and 'mhiz cutzy.' Kai!

Like now, I was not crazed about the app. I joined and was rigmaroling until one day, nobody cared for 2go anymore.

I really miss my Nokia C2. It was a popular device back then before Asha and Blackberry took over. Especially the former. If you had it back then, your rep for the area will really skyrocket. My big brother had a bold 5 and curve 4 at some point. I been no understand the phone so I no like am. But I know that it was like the Samsung and iPhone of today

Social media apps then were just fun. They were for catching up and to just chill. I understand that these days social media apps are doing a lot for people and all but I think it was easier then and not this chaotic. I really don't care for that, though. My pain is the cheap mb that we no longer enjoy as it was then.
E be things sha.

Thanks for gracing this post
Greetings!

There are many things to reason if we actually take time to compare some old phone accessories and things we use with our phones to what we have now.

10mb will do a lot those days, download games, songs and videos. Yeah,500mb was a lot then. Around 2016-2017 I still remember vividly that I use to subscribe 200mb for a week and I watch a lot of videos on Facebook and Instagram. I can't even compare 10gb with 500mb of those days. Paying for subscription that won't even last can be annoying.

2go was a craze app, I joined a little late but I still felt that craziness and unfathomable hype. Forcing myself to stay awake to chat so I can get to another level and brag about it too😂😂. That app can't be easily forgotten.
