I was just in the village after completing my polytechnic for about six months. Although I have been trying to get a job all my efforts were proven to be abortive. The more I tried, the more my chances of securing a job kept depreciating. One fateful day, I received a call from my friend telling me to come over to Lagos. First, I asked him to give me a hint of the kind of job I will be doing. He could not waste anytime without spilling out what he wanted me to do. I reasoned it out, and I thought over it over the night and finally got an answer. I said to him that I will be coming over to Lagos since it would be a stepping stone to my greatness. Meanwhile, we had promised each other that we would build our respective houses in the same place, (one in one side and the other in the second side but must be on the same land’.
We were an excellent friends when we were still in the secondary school. Our friendship accelerated further to the city. Getting to the city, we started struggling together. He made me to enter the same school he was teaching as a teacher. I started teaching mathematics, further mathematics and physics. I finally saw my real passion in the area of education. Likewise, I was not the type who would be thinking of becoming a teacher one day, but I found myself in the realm of teaching which I later found interesting.
Back to business of the day
He later made it great after his university. Although he had worked and saved immensely before accelerating to the university. He started business when he was back from the university while he was also working with a reputable company. We started well, and he overtook me as he has a different passion from mine. As time goes on, he started planning on his building project. It was a great one, and I celebrated with him greatly. I also helped him out in whatever he might be doing as well as manpower. I never for once, deviated from his part when he was building. Not only that, but I was just earning a stipend which I guess cannot match up with his income. I finally came into the conclusion that I might not be able to build except if I double up my income. I started working towards it until I had to think of how to bring in a woman just to grant me support. Likewise, I got married and truly, my ways began to open gradually.
My friend had completed his house project and had started living with his wife and children. I so much hailed him for having the courage to build.
After my marriage, things started working out for me. I started seeing the kind of money I had never seen before. I set up a business for her. We remained for like 8 years doing so great, but just last year, she said to me ‘My husband, it's time to buy land and start up something gradually’. I was so happy that she reminded me of what I had forgotten. We both had to put it into prayer that this year I must buy land and start up with something in it. It was a serious prayer that I could not forget. We both said that at the end of this year, we must buy the land and start up with something in it. I got a plan of a house which I had always displayed on my laptop screen as well as her screen as well. Within this same year, I bought land with her support as planned. Since we also planned to start up something on the land, just last week, I had to buy some tangible number of blocks that can carry the building plan halfway.
So, I guess, this year will be a great year for me as I had fulfilled at least what I had planned.
I also planned to get a better job which I had done and now.
So, what I had planned has come to reality for this year. Next year I have to plan on how to finish up the building plan.
I know that the topic says what we have plans for at the end of this year, but I just need to write this since it was what I had planned for this year which has come to reality.
