Complement of the season hive Niaja I hope your holiday is going well.

When it comes to Christmas, many families and cultures have different traditions and rituals that are carried out to commemorate the celebration of the birth of Christ and also being the end of the year. , some people have the tradition of traveling back home to their home towns or villages for Christmas, while others just prefer to spend time with family and friends.

Growing up as a child raised in a Christian home, there weren't any special Christmas traditions or activities that we carried out. I grew up to know that my dad at some point was the youth coordinator of the youth back in the church where I was born and brought up, and so for that reason, many of the other leaders and members usually visited us on Christmas Day, and this made my mum always cook lavishly in order to be able to share food with those that came visiting.

The Christmas wouldn't be complete without a Christmas service in church, so we had a tradition of always going for the Christmas day service, as my dad would always say you can't be celebrating someone without going to the venue where that person is being celebrated. And of course you will agree with me that Jesus is the reason for the season, and so we had to go for church service every Christmas morning.

One of the most important parts of the Christmas celebration for me as a child was the fact that we got new clothes with which we went for the Christmas service. As for going from one place to another visiting people, my parents didn't quite welcome that, so we would rather stay indoors and see movies about Christmas or just follow up on what was happening around the world on TV.

We had a tradition of also cooking and sharing with our neighbors, and some of the neighbors also cooked and brought to us as well, so it is a season where we gave out food and got food as well. 😀😀

As time evolved and as we began to grow up, my siblings and I moved from that neighborhood because Dad became a clergy, and we were transferred, and over the years we have had to move to a new location every 5 years, notwithstanding since I and my siblings have grown children within the church where Dad pastors, always come visiting.

When I was a teenager back in the church where my dad was pastoring, we always had a camp and retreat program that was a 7-day fasting and prayer program where we took time to seek the face of God for the year ahead and for our personal lives.

Fast forward I have celebrated Christmas back at home with family for the past 4 years since I got admitted into the higher institution of learning due to distance and financial constraints until this year when I had an event just the weekend before Christmas, and I must say it has been a fun-filled holiday having to sit and eat with my siblings from the same plate and have some fun time.

The cooking and sharing with neighbours is quite relatable, I liked to be the one that takes the food to neighbours as many will want to gift you something then.
