You have met different people in our life both male and female, young and old. You met some in school, religious centers, supermarkets, events and so on. Some of these people were strangers to you at the beginning but with time you became friends, acquaintances, colleagues or lovers. It is in the nature of human beings to socialize and build new connections on a regular basis.
But, due to one reason or the other so many people have given up on friendship, not because they like to be alone or don't value friendship but because there are more fake people out there than genuine ones. A lot of people have gone through unexplainable experiences caused by people they call friends. It is quite difficult to know who genuinely is your friend in our world today because most people are in a friendship for their own selfish interest. The moment they get what they want from you they will get rid of you and hunt for their next target.
There is a story about a man and a woman in a relationship. The woman is a person that demands money from the man every time to fund her frivolous lifestyle but the man was in control of the situation. He was able to manage the situation such that he gives her money only when he thinks that it was important. He also work with a budget for the week and month, so any bills that was not duly budgeted for will not be met. She became so angry with this development and connived with a friend of hers by planting hard drugs in her man's possession. The man was arrested and jailed for a crime he didn't commit. After some time, he lost his life in jail as well. This was a chance for the woman to spend the man's wealth lavishly with her man friend. On the long run, the secrets of the two evil perpetrators were in the open and they faced the wrath of the law.
There are many people who have lost their lives or hard earned wealth in a similar way to the people close to them like friends, acquaintances, colleagues and lovers due to greed and jealousy.
However, this does not imply that there are no good people out there. There are still faithful people who would be by your side even when the going gets tough. True and genuine friends are always present either in a good or bad weather. But the challenge is that pretence may make it hard to know who is a genuine friend. We are very good at pretending as humans but our true color shows with time. After some time they will begin to disappear into thin air when they don't get the benefits they desire in the friendship.
Be sure you hold on to any good person you find because they're rare to find. There are people in your life that are always pushing you to be more productive and encourage you to so things that will make you a better person. While there are others that are a pest in your life. They are only in your life because of the things they will gain.
