If my readings were correct, and all the bearings and angles were right, I should be sitting somewhere in the office, a very good corner at that, seriously working on what I don't even know on my laptop. I mean, the email clearly said:“The Hub reopens 13th January 2025.” But here I am, comfortably sprawled on the bed, laptop nowhere in sight, probably chilling somewhere and accumulating some dust.

Excuse me.
At least I’ve eaten and had a good nap, so now I can think clearly about how ready I am to go back to work after this so-called holiday.
Wait
There was even a holiday?
Wow.
All I know is that we closed sometime in mid-December, and I spent three weeks helping my sister, who is a hairstylist, with the seasonal rush at her shop. So if there was a holiday, I must have missed it. Looks like I’ll just have to wait for the next one!
As much as I still need like a whole year to get my brain back in the work mode, I am actually quite excited to get back to it. I think my brain is the only thing that really had a holiday. It’s been nice to have a break from constantly thinking about codes to write, bugs to fix, and the pressure of deadlines and project completions. There were even times I wanted to open my laptop and do something productive, but I just couldn’t muster up the motivation. It’s like trying to start a car that’s been sitting for weeks, no matter how much you turn the key, it just doesn’t want to start.
For someone like me, I need the right environment to get my best work done, especially when it comes to focus and productivity. Working from home can be deceiving, though. There’s always that lingering thought of "take it easy, relax a little" when you know the office isn’t even open yet. That mindset can easily get the worst out of you. So, yeah, I’m really looking forward to getting back to the office, to be around that work environment and start doing something before I get too lazy and comfy.
On a brighter note, something amazing happened just before the new year began. I got offered an internship to mark the second phase of a Bootcamp I started last year. It was the perfect way to kick off the year, and honestly, it’s something I’ve been wanting for a while. The craziest part? I was still thinking about applying when I received an email from the Tech Academy saying I had been selected. Talk about a new year surprise!
This internship is a big deal for me, it’s a step that could really shape my career in the future. It’s a chance for me to improve, grow, and gain more practical experience. The excitement I felt when I got that news was hard to contain, and it still hasn’t worn off. I’m looking forward to diving into it, learning all I can, and making the most out of this incredible opportunity.
So, even though I might still be in holiday mode, a new chapter is just around the corner. The motivation is slowly creeping back, and I can’t wait to start putting in the work and making some real progress. The hustle might feel a little challenging at first, but I’m definitely ready for it.
