We humans differ in a lot of ways, our personalities is what defines us, never really categories myself as an introvert or an extrovert but as I grew older my lifestyle choose where I belong. I have principles that dictates my every action but before making any decision about anything one of the things I consider is my comfort. It is not the primary factor that dictates my actions because in life whoever is in pursuit of greatness must learn how to be comfortable with being uncomfortable. Greatness or success isn't what I'm talking about in this context, I'm referring to any action that has to do with fun or entertainment, how fun something is does not really matter to me, what matters to me is does it make me feel comfortable?

I can count the numbers of parties I had been to in the last 5 years like it was just yesterday and that is because I don't attend parties, places like that are too crowded for my personality, I don't know if it is the crowd or the noise but something definitely creeps me out about parties not to talk of clubbing. I remember during my days in higher institution, any event that has to do with our department the first venue that pops up in their minds is club, it feels like that is the only thing that gives meaning to events. I wasn't so popular when it comes to social activities but academically I was, most especially among broadcast students. So whenever such events pops up I just disappear like I was never in that department, a lot of people kept complaining till eventually they accepted me for who I'm.

With that being said it is quite obvious that I'm an indoor person. I never really understood why at first but gradually I realised I find comfort in being in a private space where I could breath freely without looking over my shoulders or being disturbed. For most outdoor person they find it very difficult to accept that a human being can be very comfortable with staying indoors, I mean we humans a social animals but what they fail to understand is that it has nothing to with socialising but more about how we choose to socialise that is what differentiates indoor and outdoor person.

As an indoor person, it might not seem like we don't do much but there are things we do and appreciate that might seem little or intangible to others but it is everything. There are a couple of activities I engage in but some are not really activities more like what I enjoy as an indoor person such as;

  • The silence: If I'm being honest noise and loud bangs makes me feel sick, it kind of just disrupt my thinking and when I can't think it suddenly feels like I can't breath. So whenever I'm indoor and I hear the sound of breeze brushing through the walls or trees I suddenly feel so much at peace. What I usually do in that moment is I write poems because my thoughts are more coordinated, in fact I can't write in noisy areas. The value of silence is priceless, the peace that exist within it can't be expressed with words, it is magical.

  • Board games: I love playing games in general when I'm indoors but not like board games it is tactical and it gives you the privilege of understanding the manner of thinking of your opponent. There are a lot of board games but my favourite is Draft then chess can follow or monopoly. Well, the first board game I learnt was Draft before any other board games, there are times when I'm alone at home and I don't feel like playing against a computer on my phone, I will set up the board and play against myself, it might sound creepy but at that moment it is not really a board game but a mind game.

  • Movies: I'm a lover of movies most especially series. I can watch it on and on it my eyes feels teary, as I grew older this habit of mine has reduced significantly because I have so much to do, so instead of wasting time watching movies I have hive related activities to attend to or probably a tutorial I need to attend or space. Which has reduced the amount of time I spent watching movies but whenever I find the time I still watch movies.

  • House chores: This might really sound funny to most people and make them feel like what kind of weirdo is this? Well I admit I can be weird sometimes but I'm the type of person that does what makes me feel comfortable. You might be wondering what does house chores have to with this. The thing about most people that stay in indoors is that we have a complicated way of thinking because we have a lot of time in our hands to process things but there are times when I have a lot of ideas in my head and I can't seem to agree on one thing, if silence and music is not working my next choice is house chores. Here is the thing about me, over the years I realised when I'm tired I can't think and the best way to achieve that is by doing house chores and there are times when in the process of doing house chores I'm able to uncomplicate my thoughts.

The funny part is these days it is hard to stay indoors, I have work to attend to and all kind of stuff but whenever I find the time I rush back to my comfort zone which is staying indoors.
