Fear is something we all understand, something that walks with us whether we want it or not. It’s like an uninvited guest that shows up in our lives, usually when we’re about to step into the unknown. It doesn’t ask for permission, and it doesn’t care if we’re ready. It comes into your mind, a racing heart, or that paralyzing voice inside your head telling you, “You can’t do this.” Fear has a way of making everything feel much bigger than it is. It takes what’s uncertain and amplifies it, feeding on our doubts and insecurities. It’s like standing at the edge of a cliff, unsure whether the jump will lead to freedom or failure, and yet, somehow, we have to decide whether to leap.

What’s strange about fear, though, is that it’s both a barrier and a teacher. It stops us from taking risks, from doing the things we dream of, but it also holds a mirror up to our hearts, revealing the things that matter most to us. When we’re scared, it’s often because something is at stake. It could be love, success, or even just the simple hope of being accepted. Fear doesn’t show up when we’re standing in the safe zones of life, where everything is predictable. No, fear shows up when we’re about to step into something new, when we’re about to change. It's in these moments when we're about to take a risk or change something in our lives that fear suddenly shows up, warning us of everything that could go wrong. But, that's also when fear can be a chance for us to grow.

As much as it tries to hold us back, it can also push us forward. The things we fear the most are often the things with the most potential. Whether it’s opening up to love, stepping out of our comfort zone, or chasing something we really want, fear tends to be the thing that holds us back. But facing it? That's when we really start to move. And yet, in the very act of overcoming it, we find courage we didn’t know we had.
Fear isn’t something that ever really disappears, though.
It’s always there, like a shadow, lingering in the background, waiting for the next leap, the next step into the unknown. What we’ve learned over time is that fear doesn’t have to control us. It doesn’t have to freeze us or stop us from living our lives.

In fact, fear can actually be the push we need to move forward. It reminds us of how human we are, how vulnerable we can be, and how important our choices really are. It’s easy to look at fear as the enemy, something to be avoided at all costs. But the truth is, fear is simply a part of the human condition. It’s a reminder that we’re alive, that we’re capable of change, and that we’re constantly being called to grow. When we learn to walk alongside fear, rather than run from it, we find that it no longer has the same power over us. It becomes something we can use, something that helps us become more of who we are meant to be. Fear may never fully leave us, but it doesn’t have to keep us stuck. It can be the thing that pushes us to leap, to love, to grow, and to live boldly, even when we’re scared.

Finding the will to act despite fear is true courage

Exactly, that’s what real courage is.

Fear baffles me a lot because it's designed in a way that every single soul on earth experiences it

True, fear touches everyone, but it’s all about how we handle it.

As much as fear keeps us down and not try something new, it's also one that pushes us forward to making that change that felt so impossible and risky. What we need is to confront fear and see it as a stepping stone to unleashing the real potential in us.

You're right. Fear can hold us back, but facing it helps us grow and do what we thought was impossible. It’s all about using fear to unlock our potential.
