When Christmas Plans Don't Go as Expected

in Hive Naija4 days ago

Christmas has come and gone, but the only thing we have left is memory, the memory we created during this period, how we spend the day. How lovely it is, is it an indoor or outdoor celebration, as for me do I really have Detty December?

This Christmas is one of a kind, I ought to celebrate this Christmas with my sister, I wrote about traveling to my sister's house in one of my previous posts, it was supposed to be enjoyable but it came with a little bit of boredom but I still enjoyed the day.

My sister and her family were to travel to the United Kingdom before the Christmas celebration, they already booked their flight for the 21st of December, we were all happy for them and they left the house for the airport but unfortunately, they missed their flight and came back home angrily, her husband rescheduled their flight and it falls on the 25th which is the Christmas day.

On the 25th, everyone was in a hurry, we woke up very early and cooked as usual, we shared food with the neighbors and we started preparing for the airport, I was with my senior brother and he was the one who would take them to the airport, we were rushing so that we could beat time, we left the house earlier than expected because once bitten twice shy, we were glad and merry to see them off.

NOTE:- THESE WERE SENT TO ME BY MY SISTER VIA WHATSAPP

I took some videos of them while going to the airport and after that, we departed, I went straight to the pharmacy because I was unable to eat, I have a sore on my tongue which makes it difficult for me to eat anything that has pepper, I got the drugs and also got myself a bowl of strawberry/vanilla ice cream just to cool myself down and also celebrate the season.

We left the airport and I persuaded my brother to take me to my friend's house because I wanted to pack some of my stuff from her, she got me some kitchen utensils and it was very important for me to see her that day because she would be traveling the next day, I got there and she offered me food which I rejected because of my tongue, but why do most people love to cook rice on Christmas day? Is this a tradition that we must obey?

I came back home and connected to Netflix to watch movies, I did movie night with chin-chin instead of popcorn also I was on a call with my friends to wish them all Merry Christmas, I bought some food on my way coming home because I was tired of eating jollof rice and fried rice, I bought masa this is one of the northerners food and it has no pepper in it, this serves me till the next day which is the boxing day, this was how I spent my Christmas celebration. As I reflect on this Christmas, I realize that it's not about the big, grand events, but about the little moments we share with loved ones.

This is my response to this week's episode of the #Hivenaija community prompt of #hn-wk79

I also watched movie to chin-chin. That was before someone sent me a very horrendous meaning associated to the word chin-chin😂 and I wondered just how Nigerians decided to call it chin-chin

So what is the word associated with it, please let me know and learn from my master 😂
