Growing up, a lot of business ideas have come into my mind, but nothing remains stronger in my mind than these two businesses. The first one is a computer school where people come and learn the basics of how to do minor things on computers, like speed typing, how to use major software that companies are in demand for and many more, while the other one is a poultry farm.
I was still in secondary school when I pitched this idea to my dad, and he bought into it; he built a poultry for me, bought chicks, and every other task was assigned to me.
I remember how I felt every time one of the chicks died; it felt like I wasn't doing a good job, but great quantity survived. The more I grew and did more research, the more I discovered there was more to the poultry business.
Now, here is my idea, which I believe, if I push well with the right funds, it will become a successful one.
Do you know that Nigeria still imports frozen food? So I thought to myself, Why import chicken when we can create a big factory that produces this chicken?
Having a big factory where we hatch the chicks, grow them, and get them ready to be processed before they are packed into the cold room. This will infact create job opportunity for many people whoo read agricultural science in school because their skill will be need in taking care of the chick till the mature age for processing.
Not only will they have jobs; the bigger the company grows, the more jobs will be created. We are going to have a section where people can buy live chicken for whatever they want to use it for, and also the egg will also be a great source of income for the company.
You would think the chicken that is being processed has only their meat to give but no, I also did some research on the feather pillow, which people buy often. This can become a new franchise in the Nigerian market. The feather pillow will be created and the right feathers from the processed chicken will be used. Since only exclusive feathers will be used, this will make the pillow a scarce commodity that people will want to get. The higher the demand and the lower the quantity supplied, this will lead to an increase in the price of the pillow, making it an exclusive product.
It won't just stop there; I also plan to start an agricultural farm where organic manure from the poultry farm will be used to grow crops. To cut the cost on the food the chicken will consume, the farm will grow the raw material that will be processed into making the chicken food here, cutting the cost on the food consumption.
There are more I would like to say but I think this is enough for now. I have thought of this business since I was little and the idea still remain, I know one day I will be able to make this happen.
