It's the Christmas season, and every family observing this celebration certainly has a particular thing they do during this festive period. Some people might be traveling to visit to observe the dance of a masquerade or just be among relatives in a faraway land. Others might be doing something special, like preparing a particular dish they rarely eat except on special occasions.
The Fash family has a similar tradition during the Christmas festive period. Family traditions hold a special place in my heart, which is why, no matter where I am, I will observe this practice that was passed down to us by my father.
It has become a norm that every Christmas day, we must attend a Christmas service in any church hosting it, even if our church does not host a service. There are some churches that don't hold a Christmas service because Christmas does not fall on a Sunday, while some churches host services to talk about the reason for the season. It has become a tradition that we go to church to observe a one-hour prayer before heading home to cook.

Also, on Christmas day, even if we prepare all the delicacies in the world, if pounded yam and egusi soup are missing from the food we cook, then our Christmas is not complete. This is not a ritual, but we now believe it has become a tradition for us to have pounded yam as dinner on Christmas day.
Yes, it's a common food for some people, but it's not a common food for us. Do we eat it during the progression of the year? Yes, we do, but we rarely do. Pounded Yam and egusi must be included in our meals for us to have a wonderful day.
Finally, this one is not to be joked with. The night after Christmas, which is Boxing Day, we would all gather at night to talk about what we want to achieve in the coming year. We aren't just going to talk about it; we would write it down in our journal and talk about it to everyone present at the family gathering. This gathering consists of just my parents and siblings.
After we are done talking about it, we will read the Bible and have prayers that could last for hours. This activity must be done on the 26th of December; after this has been done, everyone can now carry on with what they want to do.
These are some of the practices we hold yearly during Christmas celebrations. We believe in talking about our dreams, praying together, and helping each other to bring those dreams into reality.
Thanks for reading.
Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year in advance.
Yours Truly.

You are making me crave pounded yam right now and I think that's one of my family traditions until a few years ago. Pounded yam is a must on Christmas day but a lot has changed over the years.
Attending Christmas service is awesome and I have only done that a few times. Glad your family had a great Christmas celebration.
Yes o
And the pounded yam is remaining
I’ll keep it for you
Praying and attending service with family is our family tradition
