NOT EASY TO BE VEGAN IN NIGERIA

At the beginning of this month there were several revolutions I had made that I thought I could strictly adhere to them but unfortunately, we are just 12 days into the month and it has proven difficult to maintain. Although all these are due to financial restraints, time and the economic situation of things. Somehow it has got me thinking that to maintain adequate discipline to achieve a goal is also based on finances, if not you would not be able to accomplish especially when it has to do with money. Again, the availability of that resources is also an important factor that should be taken into consideration.

Well, this month I had planned to do more of vegetables and eat in the right nutritional proportion, so as to maintain a healthy diet. My plan was to incorporate vegetables daily at least once a day be it leafy vegetables or fruits. But as the case maybe it has proven very difficult to maintain that habit, ome of the reasons been that the costs of fruits these days is so alarming that what could get you a whole fruit basket is no longer sufficient. You can imagine the price of an apple at 600naira for the small size and the bug size at 800naira. That means 10 pieces would be 6k or 8k.

Another why I have not been able to keep up with goal is due to the fact that maintaining fresh leafy vegetables can be hard because of the inconsistency in electricity. It would have even been better if I can make a large quantity and store in the fridge, then I take a portion out of it everyday but unfortunately that cant be possible when I have to warm it everyday, it would loose the basic nutrients and the taste as well.

Although, it's not like I totally abandoned the goal but when I have the time and opportunity, I make some veggies and enjoy myself but not everyday. Today for instance I was able to buy some oranges which was sold for #200 ( 3 piece). Fruits like pineapple, pawpaw, banana and so on are in season now, although not too affordable but it's still sufficient.

In all, money is the main issue here as it is required to buy the sufficient amount needed for satisfaction.

LEO Power Up Day - November 15, 2024

I think what has helped me in living a nutritious lifestyle - at least when I'm back home - is the fact that we grow our vegetables ourselves. It makes it much easier when you've got your peppers, bitter leaf, pumpkin leaf and the rest all at your own backyard. I hope you get to live as healthy as you want subsequently. All the best!

Yeah, we do grow our vegetables but does not last much.... Will do better
