A Night of Elegance and Excellence: The Radiant Mr. & Miss NYSC Contest at Awgu Camp Enugu

The NYSC Variety Night at the Awgu Orientation Camp, Enugu was nothing short of an electrifying display of elegance, entertainment, and excellence. The highlight of the evening was the much-anticipated Mr. & Miss NYSC Contest, an event that blended beauty, intelligence, and charisma in a grand showcase of talent. Sponsored by Hypo Product Homecare Limited, the event left corps members and officials alike buzzing with excitement.

The competition, aimed at selecting the Mr. & Miss NYSC for Batch C Stream 2, kicked off with the introduction of the judges and selection criteria, which included beauty, composure, intelligence, and audience engagement. The contestants were then introduced—each making a majestic entrance, exuding confidence and poise. Before the main contest, a representative from Hypo addressed the audience.

Afterward, the contestants took the stage, dazzling the audience in vibrant attires that celebrated Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage. Each platoon’s representative received thunderous cheers from their fellow corps members, who competed to outdo each other in excitement and support.

The National youth service corp is scheme developed by the federal government of Nigeria to bring together graduates from various parts of the country to foster unity and national development, meant to store the spirit of unity, team work and most importantly revitalise the spirit of oneness among NIGERIANS Youth.

The atmosphere reached a high pitch when the contestants engaged in a dance performance, moving with grace and precision, captivating the crowd. Following this, live performances by pop artists further heightened the night’s thrill, making the event even more memorable.

Beyond their looks and confidence, the contestants were challenged intellectually. A quiz session was conducted where each contestant answered questions without the audience knowing the queries beforehand. This test aimed to gauge their quick thinking, knowledge, and composure under pressure.

After a tough contest, the top three contestants for each category were shortlisted. For Mr. NYSC, Uyi Matthew Asuelime from Platoon 6 (State Code: 1686) emerged as the 2nd runner-up, Solomon David from Platoon 1 (State Code: 2231) was the 1st runner-up, while Muhammed Ismail Bala from Platoon 3 (State Code: 2183) clinched the title of Mr. NYSC. For Miss NYSC, Oseghale Preciousgift Ebiguanor from Platoon 8 (State Code: 1888) was the 2nd runner-up, Uzoegwu Onyeka Desire from Platoon 5 (State Code: 2285) took the 1st runner-up spot, while Obielosi Pamela Chidinma from Platoon 2 (State Code: 1502) was crowned Miss NYSC.

, the goal was simple yet profound, to Promote National unity and Development, By Bringing together graduates from different ethnic, religious and geographical backgrounds, aiming to foster understanding and corporation among young Nigerians.
