I had long had the vision of holding a Hive meetup that brings people and not just people on Hive together, where we can bring awareness to how Hive can contribute to the lives of both students and graduates, whether they are writers, musicians, or developers.
For a long while, I have been pretty occupied with my studies, and because of this, I have not had the time to build up a proper Hive community in my school to keep raising awareness of Hive. This is why I and a few friends on Hive have decided to come together in planning this event that can bring about awareness to people in my university.
Planning Progress
The venue of the event has been finalised, and a sum of 32 HBD will be paid for the space. We selected a veneu that is very close to the school because we had to keep proximity in mind in order to make it easy for students to attend.
The date of the event is set for the 13th of December. This date was chosen because by next week, most of the students would have left home or already preparing to leave in order to spend Christmas with their family and relatives. Next year would have been a good option, but there will be exams not long after the week of their resumption. So the best date to place the hangout is on that date.
Planning Schedule
For the event, we have drafted the program of the event and planned to use a total of 3 hours. Here is the design of the program agenda we have been able to come up with.
We have created invitation links where interested people can register and we can keep track of the people that will be attending the event. I started pushing the link out yesterday and we have gotten about 20 people who will be attending the event. As of the records I have here, 5 of those who registered are Hive users and we have 24 registers from people completely new to Hive.
My goal for this event is to gather at least 40 people and up to 50 people that would be registering for the event. These people will not just be coming to listen to boring conversations about Hive; the plan is to gather to have a mixture of knowledge and fun. In this case, we would be making preparation of music, quizzes/giveaways, and refreshments available to the attendees during the event.
The Budget for Refreshments
My budget for the cost of refreshments for 50 people is about 200 HBD and what we would be giving out that day for refreshments will be small coffee and biscuits (during the arrival and registration section) and small chops & soft drinks for the networking break period.
This is quite a lot of money, which is why I have some Hive, which I have powered down from my Starstrings01 account in order to secure the payments that will be needed.
Hopefully! We don't have more than 50 attendees that day unless there will be people who will not receive refreshments 😅😂.
How the Event will hold
By 2:30pm, when the program starts, printed infographics and registration cards will be given to members as they arrive. The infographics will give them a brief understanding of how Hive will work, and the registration card is to help us keep track of people who registered and arrived at the program. By this, I would be able to reach out to people that were not able to attend the program and also send an email of thanks to people that attended the program.
There will be opening remarks before the main presentation begins. This is where I will be explaining Introduction to Hive to them, using the infographics they have at hand as a guide and also having my slides presented on the screen in the hall. I am yet to create the slides or list out important things to discuss with them. I am open to suggestions; please feel free to drop them.
After the introduction about Hive, then there will be 10 quiz questions with prizes for those who answer them correctly. I am budgeting 13 HBD to split between the winners of each question. The quiz and prices will spark out fun and engagement in the attendees, allowing them to learn and earn, depicting what Hive is, a platform where you can learn and earn on your skills.
After that, existing users on Hive will come up to share their experience, so that the non-users can learn and know how truly it is on Hive so that we don't end up painting Hive as all roses.
The Hive Showcase will run by showing them how to create an account on Hive through Hiveonboard if anyone of them is interested in joining Hive after the event. Thereafter we have questions and answers where we will address all questions asked.
Then we would have a networking break for 30 minutes. This break will be for attendees to network, mix up, get to know each other, what they do, make friends, and to connect with each other. We don't know what relationships can be formed.
Then we would move to the last section before the closing remarks: the community-building session. This is where I will address that there is a Hive Funnab community group for those interested in being part of Hive and also address the Hive Naija Community as well. Letting them know that the Hive Funaab Community is under the Hive Nigeria Community. After then we have our closing remarks. Take a group photo session and we can all go home.
But one good thing is this: They have an infographic with them already about Hive. When they take it home, other people will get to know about Hive too and there will be a contact number they can reach out too if they want to know more or get guidance.

Why this Event Matters
For a while that I have been studying at my university, I have been seeing the need to push Hive out to students and also forming a community in the university where there will be a functioning body that will keep bringing people to Hive and introduce them to communities where their skills and talents can be relevant.
There are a lot of creators in my university, ranging from musicians, artists, and even developers. Bringing Hive to their knowledge is not only beneficial to them but to Hive too. It helps the publicity of Hive and also brings the possibility of Hive reaching out to investors. People who can be aware that they can save their money in dollars without worries of devaluation and also have safe returns of 15% APR. They become aware of how investors can earn with Hive Power and also contribute to the lives of others with their curations.
This has been my vision, which is why this event matters to me. I see it as the beginning of something great and something worthy of transformation for lives out there that can be touched by Hive and can also share the same vision as I do to contribute to Hive as well.
This event is a step to building a vibrant Hive community in FUNAAB, and I would love your support to make it a success. If Hive has touched your life or has been a source of inspiration, now is the time to share that impact with others and let's grow Hive together!
Support the Initiative
I am fully committed to making the Hive Social Xperience a success, even with the resources I currently have. However, with your support, it would go a long way in easing the process and helping us make this event even more impactful.
If you would like to contribute, you can send Hive or HBD to @iam-gifted with the memo "HSX Event Support". Your support would not only help this initiative but also inspire more creators to join Hive and grow our community.
Thank you for believing in the vision and being part of Hive's continued growth!
