Just like Sasha Sloan said in her song “The older I get the more that I see” The older we get the more we understand life for what it is.
Growing up comes with different lessons and experiences that we cannot shy away from and these lessons and experiences are what shapes our lives.
We don’t get through all these experiences and life lessons without these experiences leaving a mark on us.
How has your perspective on life changed over time?
My perspective of life has changed in ways that I cannot think or imagine and thanks to age for making this happen.
Growing up, I always thought everyone was as sweet and nice as me and the rest of my family members. I always thought that the world was filled with happy people just the way I saw in cartoons and the only villains that existed were armed robbers, kidnappers, and assassins, and every other person was not capable of harming other people or doing evil things to other people but I was wrong. I was absolutely wrong and it took me a very long time to believe that people can be wicked, heartless, and can go any length just to prove a point or to get back at you.
Getting to understand that happily ever after doesn’t always exist in real life neither does the villains get caught and peace and harmony restored to the world, no, all of these exist in cartoons and movies but not in real life as in real life, crazy things happen and they happen every single day.
I used to and still see the good in people and cut them some slack no matter how terrible the world is but getting to understand the mind-blowing things people are capable of doing because of what they want in life has made me not to be surprised by people’s actions anymore. You can wake up one morning and move from being the angel that I know to a scary monster and I wouldn’t be fazed. Yeah, that’s the level I’ve gotten to in life😃
I still can’t wrap my head around people being wicked, I mean does hurting the other person give people so much joy that they’d do it over and over again?
With time I have come to see people for the way they are and treat them according and it’s safe to say that this method is working just fine for me.
My perspective of life also changed when I began to study my relationship with people.
It didn’t take me long to understand that humans are insatiable. No matter how sweet and kind you are to people you will still have people who hate you for no reason.
You can do all the good things in life but people will still hate you regardless and the faster you understand this the better for you and your mental health.
If you keep worrying your pretty head about pleasing others and wanting them to like you, you’re in for a ride.
You know what happens when you try your best to please people or try to make them like you? You lose yourself in the process and losing yourself is worse than people hating you.
Living your life for yourself first is paramount and accepting that people will always be people no matter you do.

I learnt this too as I grew up that people will always be people. There's nothing you can do to please them enough.....not even on the death bed.
What I love most here is to know that you are a young person and that you have already understood so many things, it is good to realize reality early on, although I must remind you that we ourselves change reality with our attitude towards life. No matter how much evil there is out there, stand firm in your convictions, see that happiness is not a goal to reach, I think it is simply in the path of day to day, so we must try to deal with everything without extinguishing our own light.
