When we properly define Christmas

in Hive Naija13 days ago

The first and still the only thing that hit my mind when I saw the first topic of this week's prompt is nothing more than the sermons that are always preached by some group of deep-rooted Christians on how the Christmas celebration has lost its value. To some extent, I'll join them to preach on this even though I like flexible laws.

The Christmas season is a celebration in the Christian religion to commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ. Although some groups of Christians still go against the belief that Jesus Christ was born in December, hence they don't join in the celebration but this is not what I'm after.
To my very own understanding, I think most of the acts, I mean the recent acts done in the Christmas celebration are way too off the purpose of the celebrations. I'm not saying there shouldn't be merriment with eating and drinking, or gifting out presents and sharing love, there should be but the immoral acts are so uncalled for.

Shouldn't we honour the day?

Jesus Christ is known for peace and holiness. It's no longer news that the opposite of this is what happens on such a day or the season at large. On Christmas days, all the hotels in the city are usually booked, not for married people alone but merely for unmarried people who want to have merriment with sex. Okay, maybe it's not a sin with the current world status because it's now a norm. If this is not a sin anymore, what about the premature ones when young boys and young girls go all out to have fun because they want to feel the Christmas day?

I'm tempted to talk about clubbing and Drinking also with the way people go about it, getting drunk and causing violence is the opposite of what such a day deserves to be celebrated with. You know, a lot of people don't feel the realness of the season if they don't drink and get drunk. That's so bad.

How it should be:

With what I mentioned above, I don't mean there should not be any fun and people should get moody because it's a righteous day celebration. There are still simple ways to celebrate such a day and keep the value intact not violate rules and feel normal.

The normal gifting of presents and cooking, eating and drinking should be there and they should be done decently. People can also go to clubs if that's inevitable but let things be done cautiously, let there be no fighting, deep alcoholism and fornication. Let the day be celebrated with the reason for such celebration in mind.

I may not be right in the way I celebrate mine but that's how I do mine. I eat a lot, drink, a lot, share a lot but don't go against what I know it's not right. I try as much as people to keep the season neatly celebrated.

Thanks.

I wrote this in response to the first option of the prompt.
