Hello hive naija. I'm Kheji. I have been on hive blockchain for a while and this is my first post on hive naija. I’m excited to share how my holiday transitioned into the new year and the journey that has followed. My year has been quite interesting so far.
During the holidays, I spent quality time with my family. We had fun, went on outings, and enjoyed every moment together. The holiday season always brings warmth and joy, and this one was amazing. As the new year approached, I was really excited because I had a very important event to prepare for: my induction ceremony into the Nigerian Society of Engineers.
This ceremony was something I had looked forward to for years. I attended the last two ceremonies and I had always imagined how mine would be. On January 1st, I realized it was happening in just over a week, on January 9th. I felt so much joy in my heart. One of my friends made my outfit for me, which looked really amazing. My convocation was also coming up on January 25th, so I decided to combine the photo shoots for both events on January 7th.
On the day of my shoot, my makeup artist arrived late, which delayed things because she also had to work on my friend. I agreed to meet my photographer by 4:00 PM that evening, but I started my make over then. It was already 7:30 PM by the time I got to the studio. I apologized to the photographer, I really don't like delaying someone. Despite the delay, the shoot turned out to be nice. The following day, the photographer sent me the pictures, and I couldn’t stop admiring how beautiful they were. I looked at them a thousand times.
On January 9th, the induction ceremony I had always looked forward to finally arrived. It was a very special day, and I felt so happy and proud. After spending five to six years in school, it felt great to see all the hard work pay off. Being officially inducted into the Nigerian Society of engineers was a moment I’ll never forget.
I took countless pictures with my friends and course mates, cherishing every moment. There was a bittersweet feeling as I realized this might be one of the last times we would all gather like this. The bonds we have built over the years will always hold a special place in my heart.
I revisited my New Year’s resolutions. One of my main goals was to focus more on programming. I’ve been working through Eric Matthes’ Python Crash Course and have made progress. I'm currently on chapter six, which explains dictionaries, an interesting topic that talks about key-value pairs. A dictionary in Python is a collection of key-value pairs. Each key is connected to a value, and you can use a key to access the value associated with that key. A key's value can be a number, a string, a list, or even another dictionary. So far, I've learnt how to access values in a dictionary, add new key-value pairs, and how to remove key-value pairs.
Another resolution I made was to engage more on hive. I haven't been as consistent as I wanted to be, though I made an entry on Vibes web3 last week. I was occupied with preparation for my induction ceremony but I plan to be more active and contribute regularly this year.
Generally, the transition from the holidays into the new year has been a great journey. From family time to achievements and personal growth, this year has started on a good note, and I’m excited for what is to come.
