Exactly a week ago, I bade the compulsory NYSC scheme goodbye as I collected my discharge certificate.
I was already anticipating my POP day such that the next morning as early as 6:30 am I was already at the park with my luggage to return to my base.
The last 1 year was arguably the most challenging of my years experienced.
Don't get me wrong, I'm grateful for the people I met during the 1 year service.
However, the scheme itself in my opinion has a lot of unnecessary things attached to it.
One of the lessons I am glad I learnt is to be assertive in work place especially when it entails working with manipulative senior colleagues.
I honestly didn't envisage working everyday of the week in NYSC, but I guess fate had other plans for me.
I learnt that many of the senior colleagues just wanted to dump work on the junior colleagues without even considering that these junior colleagues are underpaid because of the scheme and also need rest.
So I learnt to say No respectfully to my bosses whenever they placed demands that were going to be detrimental to my health and wellbeing.
It's a healthy doctor who can take care of patients.
I'm honestly glad the 1 year service is over.
No one told me about Post NYSC Fatigue.
I'm sure you would love to ask that after NYSC , what next?
My response will be, "I need a break from clinical work".
The kind of fatigue I experienced few days ago was really alarming 🤕
I'll be taken enough time to rest and also resuming my Healthy food business as that honestly gives me more pleasure than clinic work on days like this.
Its been a busy year.
I'm grateful for God's mercies 🙏
