February 14 is a controversial day and date as applies. A lot of people take this as a day to show live to their loved one? I wouldn't really know why because i have never celebrated valentine in my life amd i don't plan on doing so. Why? Try reading through, okay?!

So, Feb 14th is argued to have roots in pagan and roman traditions with Christians also claiming to celebrate love abd a martyr's sacrifice. Because i dont want to get any detail of the history confused, it would be in your best interest to go and check out this celebration and its root hefire you go on partaking in it. Does this mean you should not celebrate your loved one? The answer to this question is no with added rhetorical questions.....who said love must only be celebrated on the 14th of February? Why cant you wake up on a random day and gift a loved one.

Valentine's day has gone through series of evolution and adaptation with it springing from pagan, romam Traditions to a said christain celebration of a matyr's sacrifice and now, people all over the world celebrating it as a day to show love and affection.
Personally, apart from the not so pure roots, i find it unreasonable that a person only shows love on a specified day out of 365 days and 366 days where applicable. Also , it is unreasonable that a person only receives love on the 14th of February. Why does it have to be 14th of February. Why can't you express your love for me on the 30th of December, 1st of January and 17th of April? Why can you not randomly gift me and show me affection with me doing the same?

I understand that with a designated day, it gives more certainty, or maybe a special feeling but with the way it has been structured, people make it seem like not recieving a gift on the 14th of February means you're not loved and this is so evident when you speak with people. For instance, i talked with a friend who will remain anonymous and as we interacted, she made a statement about being in a relationship with a man she no longer loves just so she would collect valentine gift. And this is so and so where you would see people stringing people along just to collect gifts qnd be showered affection on valentine. And at this point, even if the Valentine origin were to be pure....it would have been a diminished value since people do not hold any authentic meaning to what is said to be celebrated.

I think showing love is not something that is designated or only assigned to a day. What is love? What is love to you? What does it truly mean? Do you even know your love languages? And to the person youre showing affection to, do you genuinely love this person or is it all just for show? I have never been the one to indulge in fake affections and i hope to not be.

I believe that love in itself is truly unconditional, it grows and is not able to be contained, it forgives, it is not hurtful and so and so. Wake me up in the morning and gift me. Come back to a house and I've cooked a entire banquet meal for you. See me tomorrow and hug me tightly telling me how much you love me. And oh! Love is not to be reduced to romantic relationships but to your loved ones, family or not.

It's actually unwise to celebrate someone you really care about once in a year so I agree with your point despite not worrying about the root of the celebration. Love should be expressed everyday if we truly mean it.

Thanks for participating in the HN weekly prompt, cheers.
