Oh! Telling a big lie can be very disturbing.
I think your kind of lie is a normal one for workers, even in other countries I've seen workers tell lies in movies just to get a good rest.
I only think it would have been better if you had told them you're having cramps or were sick, I don't like lying about my parents, I'm always scared my words will come to manifest.

I had studied my boss, telling him about cramps would never move him, he is not passionate to the extent of giving the worker rest unless you wants it to be deducted from your salary
I did it before I realized that I went too far but there is nothing I can do to reverse the statement.
