Seeing Our Neighbors As Blessing And Not Problem

in Hive Naijalast month

No man is an Ireland and everyone that God brings into our life is full of purpose and that summarizes the entire law of God with one word concerning our neighbors, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself” (Gal. 5:14).

Although I would say that it's sometimes difficult dealing with people, especially people we don't understand, but in the course of time, we tend to blend so as to live peacefully and in unity.

Families is one thing that can be extended to anywhere, because I see family as an integral part of my life, though life is not perfect, and neither is my family, but we can work and create perfection out of imperfections, only then can we blend and live happily and in harmony with one another.

That is how I perceived life should be, but this has become difficult in our society today because our culture has a selfish focus on individualism and that misses the importance of caring for our neighbors, and the political divide is uprooting our willingness to love our neighbor, though it is hard for us to interact with people who think differently than us, and about us, it is much easier to stay in our bubble with people who think and act like us.

We are uninterested in listening to one another or hearing about the pain that they are experiencing. We are so sure of how right we are that we won't listen to others, much less step into their struggles, but that should not be so because we are all one. Yet in all these we should be able to show the love of God to our neighbors, the neighbors who don't look and think like us, those who believe differently than us, those whose life choices upset us, and even those who despise us. Though it might be difficult to live peacefully with such people as our neighbors, but we can show them love, care and attention and that barrier can be crossed.

My next-door neighbor, I would say is my sisters and brothers, because we tend to blend and have everything in common, but it wasn't so from the beginning, but that happened with time through love, care and attention. Most of the time we are asked if we are siblings because the way we relate is amazing. Despite our imperfections, we tend to learn with patience and to adjust, that was how we were able to blend and live peacefully and in harmony, we love ourselves and have remained close through the years.
Though we have our own faults, most times we disagree to agree, we also get to fight and come back together, but we didn't allow that to steal what we share, and our happy moments.
I often sit to reflect on how we started, and we even make fun of those moments, because it was on a rough ground, but when we get closer, that was when we get to understand ourselves, and every passing day our bond becomes stronger, doing everything together, sharing thoughts, praying together, cooking and eating together, e.t.c which has being of great benefits to us, and that excites me on every passing day.

I believe that in every environment we find ourselves we should be able to leave a blueprint and add value to the people around us, because that is the only legacy we would be remembered of when we are no longer in that environment or when we are no more. So I believe that staying in any environment, I ought to make good use of that opportunity. I'm glad that I've been able by God's Grace to achieve that, I would say I have amazing neighbors and I love them as myself.
