We all deal with fear in our lives at one point or the other, either for the wrong things we did, while others unknown to us, so rather than being fearful of what could happen, we should be scared of not doing anything at all. Although fear of the unknown can be terrifying, it has the tendency of holding us back from becoming who we want to be, also keeps us from exploring things outside our comfort zone as well as limits our vision.
Though at points, it's normal to be scared, about certain things in life, but allowing it to take hold of our progress and growth becomes an issue we ought to deal with. There is power in confronting our fear, we will not know how much we can do, and how far we can go if we don't confront our fears by taking a bold step forward.
Fear shouldn't control our lives, we ought not to be afraid of the unknown, rather we should embrace it, welcome it and make the most of it, and instead of letting it hold us back, we should use it as motivation to explore new ideas. We shouldn't allow something we have full control of to limit our success and achievement. We shouldn't allow something that hasn’t happened to actually become reality because of fear.
Because by being scared of situations or reality that hasn’t happened yet, we're actually proving it to be true, because we have not taken a bold step to that effect in conquering it.
We have the power to either use our fear to our advantage, by channeling our fear to be the source of our strength or breaking loose from its chain. Thus, breaking free from the chains of fear is a powerful and liberating experience.
It's important that before we can be liberated from our fear, we have to understand the source of our fears, thus reflecting on the root cause give us a foothold on how to address them more effectively, though, every of our life experience begins with the content of our hearts, so to that effect, we ought to be in control of every negative thoughts, challenging them with more positive and realistic ones, replacing words like " I cannot, or I'll never be able" with "I'll can, or I'll learn and grow from the experience."
A house was not built in a day, so overcoming our fear is not automatic, rather it's a process, and gradually exposing ourselves to the things that scared us, beginning small and working our way up to more challenging situations builds confidence, boldness and strength in us. We ought also to believe in ourselves, by developing a growth mindset, embracing challenges as opportunities, also forcing on our progress and not our perfection.
Fear comes with worries, So rather than working up (worrying) ourselves about the future or dwelling on the past, why don't we focus our strength and attention on the present moment, which is a better way out, because focusing on the positive aspects of our life help shift our perspective and helps in building resilience in overcoming our fears.
Overcoming fear is a process that takes time, effort, and patience, though we need to be gentle, kind and compassionate with ourselves as we work to break loose from the chains of fear.
