When I was much younger, going out with Mom was always really annoying sometimes especially if she decides we're going to trek. I'll have to make sure I've brushed my mouth very well and get ready to greet the nations 😩. Mom will make sure first she'll greet the baby, then she'll greet the mother, then she'll greet the father, she'll greet the old, and the young. I'm pretty sure if the leaves by the street could talk Mom wouldn't have hesitate to greet.
And if Mom dares greet any of them and you don't join her get ready for trouble. So whenever I'm going out with her my mind is prepared to greet weather you get a reply or not, greetings is mandatory. And that is how she trained each and everyone of my siblings.
She believed that exchanging pleasantries creates a good social communication with the people you meet everyday on the road. I could remember when we returned from the market and while Mom was preparing the food items I asked why she prefers to greet at every angle she might find herself. Mom taught us how to come in the midst of crowded people and start a conversation with exchanging pleasantries.
I remember vividly when we had a crowded guest at home and I was meant to go serve them. I got into our sitting room with the food and refreshments. Served the guest without uttering a word then left. Mom left immediately and called me to the backyard gave me a painful ear pull then made me to greet the guest one after the other.
Mom made me realize that for you to get a good life value, you need to be able to wear a beautiful smile when greeting someone. She says it's good to greet because greetings can save life. Then I asked " Mom how can greetings save life ". I never really use to understand Mom until I got into college.
I extended that good morals and values out to the society as well. I was able to make friends just by exchanging pleasantries when wearing a beautiful smile. My social lifestyle grew with the help of Mom, and today I'm able to associate with people and start a conversation with anyone just by being bold enough to greet no matter the crowd. I greet even when I don't get a reply.
There was a day I went to school, and after the stressful day I needed a quiet spot to relax. I felt if I go to a noiseless zone I wouldn't be able to calm my nerves and indeed I went to the place that is next to the library. It wasn't open and it was really quiet. When I got there, I met a girl that sat so quiet, it's like she had a lot on her mind, maybe that's why she didn't notice my presence and got tackle when I greeted. Surprised to see me greet she said, " you're greeting me, you just talked to me, it just means that you don't see me any less a person ". Then she stood up smiled and left.
I didn't really understand her but I believed that she felt really good after I had talked to her. This is one of the many more moral upbringing I will always appreciate my dearest Mom for, and it's an upbringing I'll love so much to replicate in my children as well.

Greeting is actually very nice, and very important in this part of the world. My mom also like greeting, she would even branch to make small talks and jokes. Well, I would also love to let my children realize how important greeting people is.
