Music has a way of impacting our lives either positively or negatively, it depends on the kind of songs we listen to that lift our mood and set things right even when we are going through tough times. For me, music is a food to the soul and a medicine to a sick heart and that has been a profound reason I prefer music to movies. Asides growing up in a family that loves music, I just naturally developed interest in music; more reason why I encouraged my brothers to learn one or more musical instruments. Music resonates well with me and seems like a relief in times of depression. There are times when things do not go the way we want them to go, and the only thing you would be left to turn to is yourself. Instead of thinking of depression, why don't you choose music as an antidote for depression? There is music for every feeling and phase of life; there are songs one listens to when depressed, or happy, or in love, fulfilled, sad and lots more though, I prefer slow songs that lifts my spirit when I'm down.
There are different genres of music and Gospel has been my favourite. Though, I listen to blues, and some parts of hip-hop. I am very selective when it comes to picking songs that I wish to listen to, because I have the belief that whatever I listen to, sticks in my head and also has effects in my life. I enjoy listening to gospel songs these days because it passes timely messages to me though, I have preferences of the artistes that I listen to.
There is this song that has been on my playlist for a while. I intentionally listen to it repeatedly because the song revolves around the goodness of God in my life. This year has been a rollercoaster of emotions but God has remained ever faithful. This song makes me think deeply about all the wonderful things I've enjoyed since the beginning of the year up to this moment. The incidents that I scaled through, has led some people into the grave and thus, the reason for my gratitude to God. I will love to share the lyrics of this song as a timely message to everyone. It is a song by Cece Winans, and it invokes an appreciative feeling in me, making me more appreciative than before and that I can't trade for anything.
