We are in the 21st century, where civilization is in vogue; everyone wants to follow the new trends to prove a point best known to them and ruin their lives and that of their children at the expense of becoming a social media celebrity. Teenage pregnancy is very rampant in our society today, which wasn't so before; there was fear of stigmatization in the olden days, which made lots of people abstain from immoral activities till they were grown enough for marriage, which promoted good cultural morals in those days.
Since civilization came into existence, we all want to behave and live like Westerners; we no longer cherish nor value our cultural teachings. I remember while growing up, my parents told me how a female child is celebrated when she goes to her matrimonial home as a virgin, and on the night of the wedding, the husband is made to show the evidence of her virginity but all these are lost in this present generation. We now see a fifteen-year-old girl, all in the name of big stature, being impregnated by her so-called boyfriend.
Parents now encourage their wards to be involved in immoral acts as a means of survival, which leads to some of these teenage girls becoming mothers at younger ages. At that point, their lives become ruined as some of them won't be able to further their education even after giving birth, and that is for those who kept the pregnancy. Some became ashamed of it and committed to abortion; some were lucky and scaled through unharmed, while some weren't. Some lose their lives in the process, while some lose the chances of ever becoming a mother in the future.
IN THE CASE OF TEENAGE PREGNANCY, WHAT WILL I DO AS A PARENT?
In a case such as where a teenage child gets pregnant in the process of gaining admission into a higher institution, such child will put her academics on hold till she gives birth. I will never be an advocate of abortion because I know fully well the health challenges that accompany abortion. Aside from medical implications, it is not an act that should be supported because, to me, it is an act of murder; aborting a pregnancy is murdering an innocent child, which you invited intentionally to earth, so it shouldn't be encouraged.
I am a lover of education, of course, I would love all my children to be educated, in case any got pregnant along the way, or in the process of gaining admission, she will have to pause her education till after she delivers, firstly she can't abort and then can't go to school with pregnancy the best option in such case is for such child to put to birth first then further with her education because she has to be educated, that is paramount. She had to face the stigma of the sin she committed by getting pregnant at a tender age; people would surely criticize her, insult her, and pass different comments about her, which she had to endure all and dance to the tune she created by her mistake. Beating or punishing her at that instance means nothing because the situation cannot be undone; one just has to let such a child realize her mistakes and guide her through the process and against future occurrences.
